Thumbs up Making some progress

Here is a brief update on the project car... Since dropping it off at www.ls1speed.com they've managed to work through a lot of the punch list:

-Remove my old dual exhaust, install new Kooks X pipe with ATR mufflers and turndowns at the axle
-Install BMR transmission crossmember
-Redo front end alignment
-Change oil (can I really be that busy)

Still have a few things left on the list:
-Install TCI SFI Flexplate
-Might install CSI Supershield
-Swap out 2 bar map sensor and install 3 bar map sensor

Maybe one of the Speed Inc. guys can comment on how much quieter the new exhaust is, I hope it's much quieter than my old setup.

Getting closer... closer...

I used to tease a buddy for taking over a year to build his car, now I understand how much time it takes. And money.

Xl8rbator what are you building again? Changed your mind again?

Werd. It's even worse when you change plans mid-stream.

I planned out my build and the car is still about 95% faithful to the original plan.

Right now the car is at the alignment shop still.

Hopefully we'll dyno the car in the next 4-7 days as long as everything stays on track. Looking over the car a week ago made me realize that a ton of small stuff needed to get done and I was not getting to it because of working (sort of two jobs) and also planning my marriage next summer...

Once I dyno the car I will take the car to Alston and have them finish converting the rollbar into a 10 pt rollcage with a window net.

Off the subject, but sinve you brought it up...whats the new 10 point rule and how does it apply?

Congrats on staying on plan PSJ... You have a few months to "tidy" up.

I'm not doing the 10 pt because of any rule changes, my car is a hardtop Formula.

But I plan to run 9's next year so I have started to address the 9 second stuff that I needed:

External battery shutoff - done
longer front wheel studs - not done
open lugs for front, alrdy had rears - done
SFI flexplate, TCI - done
CSI Supershield - not done
10 pt conversion - not done (I have 8 pt roll bar)
window net - not done
alignment redo - hopefully done today

I suppose I should read the "to do" manual for going fast. I hope I dont find the 9's cause that'll just add to the list.
How often do people strive to go slower.

I think the 10pt rule is not going to be enforced for t-tops cars going in the 10's. Only cars going in the 9's will as always been needing to run a 10 pt. Maybe a tight azzed track like HRP might overly enforce NHRA rules.

What is your "new" exhaust setup? Any word yet on how it sounds compared to the old? Shawn

I think the 10-pt scare was a misnomer of sorts. if you do not have a stock firewall or floorpan or some crap...you need a 10-pt w/ t-tops. if you really have questions, just call wolfe racecraft or someone like the madman. they do this stuff all damn day.

NEW:
3.5 reducers
Kooks 3" in/out x pipe
ATR 3" mufflers
Kooks 3" turndowns
~turndowns are angled into towards the rearend
~running Kooks 1.875>2.000 headers with 3.5 collectors

OLD"
3.5 Boyce Industries oval pipe
3.5 oval in/out Flowmaster mufflers
No tips

----------------
Old setup was as loud as running bullets. So like 90% of open headers.

New setup I have not personally heard but it's much quieter and for some reason much deeper. I'll see when I go to Speed Inc Saturday or Wednesday.
