Thumbs up FLIP DRIVE - Finding the limit on 6 rib blower drive - Part II - 21 pounds of boost

So the testing has continued from last time. The customer upgraded the fuel system...

For those reading this for the first time, here is a link to the previous post:

http://forums.corvetteforum.com/c5-f...wer-drive.html

Later we will post a dyno sheet, just wanted to get this up as we are very excited about the results of our detailed testing.

We went down in pulley size in .15 to .10 increments. Unfortunately we never found the limit LOL. We maxed out the blower at 63,000 rpm impeller speed. We figured we would stop since we had run over the rated limit for rpm on a D1SC.

The results after testing:
Max boost achieved: 21 lbs
Horsepower achieved: 730+ RWHP
Blower pulley: 3.4"
Damper: Stock
Belt slippage: ZERO

Particulars about the car:
Corvette C5
Cartek built/forged 347
ProCharger D1SC Blower
4L60E automatic transmission

I suppose the next step is to try this with an F1 head unit.

So I guess this answers the question about what the Flip Drive can do versus an 8 rib alone...and do all of the same and then some while still saving your accessories. For those with an 8 rib system this kit will eliminate belt slip (do keep in mind that you may not realize that you have slip) and of course still provide added insurance to increase the life of your accessories. And for those with a standard 6 rib system...look no further.

It is an automatic with 3.73 gears and heavier stock wheels out back of course.
As far I was able to tell when I saw the car the other day is that it's a 347 with hydraulic roller blower cam, ported 243 heads, LS6 intake, stock water pump etc and with only a D1SC.
Personally, I'm actually more interested in how it runs at the track (should go pretty quick) then what it made on a dyno. The last Cartek built ProCharged C5 (a convertible) that made power in that range ran consistent 9.2s at over 145mph.

It would've made umm, LOTS more of course.
I'm thinking that a 6 speed manual might've seen over 775+rwhp maybe?

Can you please make something to help the F-body kit stop the belt slip when driving the larger F series blowers?

The auto definitely robs some power, but I'm sure that car will lay it down at the track. Swap out the D1sc with a F1C and really push that Flip Drive! Great results Cartek!

Nice results. Power seems a lil off to me, I make 800RWHP at 18psi with a A4, triple disc converter, steel DS, and 12 bolt with 3.73's and 12" wide wheels. Then again, 21psi on a 347 is a whole lot different than 21 psi on a bigger cube motor. Great work!

Could be that the 4l60e might be showing signs of it needing a refresh.

However, the point of the post is the flip drive and apparently, it is working just fine!

The tranny was doing a lot for sure, the converter wouldn't stay locked (on the 21 pounds of boost run the lock up gave up at around 5700 rpm) and hence the lower dyno numbers. Either way it's a D1SC at max impeller speed using a 6 rib belt.

I would guess that through a 6 speed the car would be making somewhere around 815+ RWHP.

That sucks, but these tranny's aren't exactly the strongest, which converter, which pulley is on the blower/crank? What would you think mine would be with a 6 speed?

The converter I think is a 3200. The crank pulley is stock and the blower pulley on the 19.5 lbs was a 3.7" and on the 21 lbs was a 3.4".

As for what your car would make with a six speed... it really depends, but I would guess for a rough approximation add 3 to 5% over what you have right now. So 830 to 860 RWHP... just a guess though.
