Default 98 ta 414ci

At work we are going to be putting together a pretty badass car. The motor is going to be a 414 CI based off of a C5R block with 8.5:1 compression. The motor is built for boost and the builder said the motor should handle 20+ psi with no problem. It will also have a built viper t-56, 12 bolt, all suspension upgrades necessary.

We are going the procharger route so which procharger would be the best for this car? I know it will probably be the largest head unit they sell that will fit in a f-body. For engine management should we look at Fast or big stuff? What does using a standalone do to running the factory gauges?

If you need more info, just post up your questions and I will get back to them as soon as possible. Thanks for any help.

Im pretty sure the owner is stuck on keeping the manual transmission. The car was setup before with the 414 and a vortech, but the blower just couldn't keep up with the larger CI. It would only build 4 lbs of boost. There was also a mismatch in the valvetrain that kept breaking parts.

It is pretty much just going to be a nasty street car. Im thinking twin intake pumps for the fuel system, or we will plump an entire fuel system for the car if need be.

Is the D1sc procharger large enough for a 414ci? Or is there a F1 system for the F-body? I saw a F1 system for the vette, but I know the accessories are different on the vette, so I dont know if thats an option or not.

I would go with the f1 to get full potential out of that motor!

4 what it sonds like, this guy wants to make some large #'s with this setup. i wouldnt even mess with anything but the F1! this will pretty much take him and his motor to wherever he wants to go. with that C.I. this is goint to be a very high torque motor... even being the viper setup on that t-56 i think its gonna break. it mite would last under a smaller motor C.I. but im tellin ya, it better be one built little tranny to hold that kinda torque on that kinda boost! good luck. oh call procharger and have them spec the rite F1 for you and price of course

we have good connections with the guys from procharger. I was just looking on here for any info the LS motor FI guys could give me. Anyone have any answers to my standalone questions?

We are installing a F3 on a 69 camaro at the shop as we speak. This should car should be a monster.

Which Vortech wouldn't keep up? A YSi would feed that beast nicely - there are some around feeding 540ci motors. There's also a great chance the YSi will fit your previous brackets.

Ill have to look into the YSi. For some reason the customer wants procharger now, im not sure why though.

If we put a procharger on his car, there is a good chance I can use the old vortech on my car!!

Yes all the factory stuff will work......and you will have to get a plug in module to get the speedo to work. No big deal. F.A.S.T. would be more friendly to you as far as making sure it works with the factory harness.
