to answer a couple questions you had:
i would do an ls6 cam at least as they can be found for $80-100 in the classifieds. i dont think youll be able to drain into the timing cover with the stock pulley. i have an asp on mine it is very close to the pulley. as for the bumper support, i cut the center off with a cutoff wheel and cleaned it with a grinder, then welded some spacers and some 1x1 stock across the top to mount the intercooler to.
build looks good man, keep it up

cut the crash bar with a sawzall or an angle grider with a Merc wheel, the merc wheels leave a beautiful clean cut and i know from experiance theyll go strait through 1/4 wall 2.5 inch square tubing.

I planned on buying the o2 bungs before I got the hot side to Doug, but apparently M18-1.5 nuts are impossible to find, even Fastenal didn't have them. Anyway, I ordered some and gave what I had to Doug. Today is dedicated to the cold side. I liked MUSTANGBRKR02's method of just removing the crash bar and making your own mount. I bought some 1x1 tubing and I have 1/4" plate lying around so I think I'm going to do that.
Looks pretty good. Doug's MR2 decided it didn't need one of its exhaust valves and tried to get rid of it. lol.
He's pissed if you can't tell. His new shortblock just came in though and he's going to do some CFD and design his own optimized exhaust manifold. Here's his "other" car.

The more I looked at it the more I didn't like how far back the intercooler sat behind the front plastic, so I spent the day making some spacers that bolt onto the front of the frame rails and move the mounting position for the intercooler bracket forward.
Space is limited in my basement so I had to take the last picture from behind a screened window, who put that office there?
Anyway, I have a few days off next week so hopefully I should be able to get a lot done.

Thanks man. Its starting to take shape so I'm getting excited. I really want to slap everything on and get it going, but thankfully I have Blaine to hold me back and make sure I do the job right. Guess I'll have to buy him a beer or ten when we finish this thing.

Good deal. Do you have a stock pulley or aftermarket? What size is the drain? Does everything have decent clearance? I mocked it up and it looked fine, but Tally TransAm got me questioning myself.
For tuning I bought EFI Live off a member here with a couple licenses left, so I'll try and do my own tuning. Doug is also the engine leader for our formula car team at school and knows a lot about tuning, he offered to give me a hand.
What were you planning on doing?
