Default Rear mount turbo can I run headers?

I read somewhere that headers reduce boost, Is that true? I was planning on running headers, ORY with no cat. Do I need to run the stock stuff?

I'd say you'd be better off running the stock stuff based off of what I've seen on here from numerous members who are currently running rearmounts.

can you double wrap the exhaust or is that more work for nothing significant on a rearmount?

next to keeping in heat, the smaller tubing of stock manifolds i think keeps a faster velocity of exhaust flow. kinda like putting a thumb over the end of a water hose vs. just letting it flow with no restrictions

i have headers and an ory pipe heat wrapped and sprayed.. i like it, but really not necessary. already had em on the car.. was just less work lol. i have no complaints.. may do high flow cats for added heat to spool a little quicker, but its w/e right now lol

Headers on a rear mount = lag city. Its one of those rare ocations where Stock is the best for ya.

Correct me if im wrong, but the point of using stock exhaust manifolds vs say a Long tube header is that there is less overall volume in the exhaust, so you can spool faster? Was actually wondering this topic last week. My friend is looking at a rear mount kit.

Stock manifolds also retain the heat in the exhaust better.

Okay I will use stock manifolds, however...
1). Would the stock cat work or is it best to use high flow cats?
2). Is it worth wraping the entire system to keep the heat in?
3). Will the stock manifolds defeat the purpose of running a ported head?

Sorry for the newbee like questions!

As for injectors/pump I have 255 and 30lbs injectors will that be enough to run 5/6 lbs of boost?

Step up to 42 for room to grow on the injectors. At some point you will want to turn the boost up a lb or two. Everyone does.. 30 would be enough but not the best..

No Cats, cat material will screw up a turbo. I hollowed out my stockers and it took 20 minutes and works great..Less of a restriction now.

Kinda like descreening a MAF..

42lbs injectors definitely is the way to go

If its metal beehive style 100 cell - you think that would cause problems??

If you have to have them use them but take them down yearly or even sooner for inspection. Ive seen cats break little chunks off quickly, especially stockers. Metal might be good but still Cats are a restriction in FI. Also risking a chance to damage a nice turbo.. To me you kill two issues from the start.. Get rid of them..

go with 60lb injectors, yeh they are big but you won't have to mess with them for a long long time. If you're doing the fueling you might want to buy a couple of pumps. Always look toward the future because once you hit boost and 88mph wooooooo lol. Just wait however long to get the most essential parts of the install that way when you put it all together you don't have to worry about pulling this to add that. Search the threads for STS kits to see what is working and what people have done to upgrade their kits to attain power.

Why even run a cat? Youre going through all the trouble of doing a rearmount why not get a 2 foot piece of pipe welded in its place. Youre already going to have to tune it when youre done so its not any extra work/money to have them turn of the rear o2 sensor.
