Default Vortech G-trim users

I put the 2.5" pulley on last weekend. I dynoed Monday. started tunning. Went back Friday afternoon. After I got the fuel trim to 12.0:1 and timing up to 25, We put down 629RWHP and 583RWTQ. The car has 300ftlbs at 2k rpms.

I was thinking of using a cryo system on the heat exchanger. So to test to see if it would work(before I bought the kit), I had the bright idea of spraying nitrous across it on the dyno.
I started spraying just before punching it. Almost instantly heard very hard detonation. Sounded like small explosions from the engine bay. Got out of it around 4k. But it was too late. It was sucking the Nitrous in. It was knocking pretty hard. It did make 688RWHP and 689RWTQ at about 4200rpms.

Spent the weekend rebuilding the engine. Still stock. Only broke a ringland on #7 piston. Sounded like it had rod bearings that were gone. All I did was replace a piston/rod assy.

I have a Vortech Icebox still to go on. I hope with it we will see 650RWHP 600RWTQ.

Here is a link to some pics of the engine and dyno graphs.

It was pulling really hard on the 629HP run. Hope to have some Times next weekend. Track is still open here on Sundays.

Perhaps you made more power but were too lean and did not have the fuel to support the extra 100 hp. If you were at 12:1 WOT before I think you leaned out.

Neat resullts!

Cablebandit: More to come. I'm hoping with the Vortech ice box we will see 650RWHP and 600RWTQ. Then it is time to see how much we can get out of the t-trim. I'm hoping 850RWHP. I think with the t-trim we will see were the limit of the stock bottom end is....

only seeing 10psi???

those must be some massively hogged out heads to make that kind of power at only 10psi.

what compression ratio ?

Wow!!! I am sorry to be a little skeptical, but give me a run down of your setup again. I must be missing something. That is a lot of horsepower for 10lbs.

Chris: it was 101 octane.
Vince: my setup is in the sig for the most part.
The bottom end is stock except for the hardened rod bolts and clevitte rod bearings. The heads are stage III locally ported and polished. They didn't flow that great. I think they flowed 280ish. With the 2.75" pulley we were seeing 576RWHP at 13psi before the heads. We put the heads on and gained no power but the boost dropped to 9. Now with the 2.5" pulley boost went up to 10psi.
I think the rest of the cars mods are in the sig.

John, what do you mean 16:1. Is that the dynamic compression ration with 10lbs of boost. If so what is the calculation for that.
Thanks

Unbelievable.
Based on your results, I think I will "overspin" my blower now.
Right now, I'm spinning to precisely the max that Vortech says to spin it to: 65,000RPMs. Engine rev-limiter set to 6500.
I think I'll go up another 100-200 engine RPMs, and re-tune a little more on the aggressive side. We left plenty of room in there.

I had the 2.75" pulley on there for 2 years. Spinning to 7k rpms I was overspinning it. About 74,000 blower rpms.

About 15-20 of those ponies was from bumping max timing up to 25 degrees from the 21 it was at.

I don't know if I have the ***** to spin the blower another 10,000RPMs.
But I'll go up in baby steps.

You don't have to spin the engine any higher. The g-trim with the 2.75" and 2.5" pulley stop making power around 6000 rpms. Spinning over that is not going to gain any more power. Go down a pulley size. It will add more power and move your power band down.

The 2.5 pulley moved our band down. If you look at the dyno graph. We have 300ftlbs of torque at 2000 rpms. Before, it didn't make any power till about 3k.

Well, my dyno graph shows that my setup still makes horsepower above and beyond 6K RPMs.
In fact, when I spun to 6600RPMs, the power started to increase almost exponentially, like it hit nitrous or something.
We'll play with this some more. I think there's another 30-40 horses in there somewhere.
