Default do i need to brace the turbo flange?

I am building a truck manifold S480 setup. I am worried that the hot pipes will not be enough to hold this heavy *** turbo i got. I am still unsure where i want to mount the turbo, I am thinking about doing something like fireball have a bar going across and weld the to the flange.
I was just woundering what every one else is doing.

Thanks, Mike

Im doing the same thing, my turbo weighs 50lbs so im in for an answer.

I might have to do motor plates since my aftermarket bmr k frame wont allow solid motor mounts, if its mounted to the body you have to worry about cracking with the motor flexing.

If u put a bar across u will have to put flex tubing it cause the motor will move and the turbo would not adventuly tearing it apart try mounting it ti the water pump bolt or something like that

I didn't have the flange welded to the bar...I had two pieces of angle iron proturding from it and the flange "sat" on the angle iron and the bolts passed thru it.

My new setup I used a T6 flange from racepartsolutions that has a bolt on mounting bracket...

Its always a good idea to have the weight of the turbo etc supported by brackets, and not the pipework itself.

Remember Fireball has motor plates that basically makes the motor not twist or move without the body moving too, now if you just had poly mounts and you tried to brace it without having flex sections im sure you would damage or crack somthing at some point correct?

with that big old thing, I certainly would think it needs some kind of support. I had a s400 and that thing was a heavy sombitch. it showed 45.5 on my scale. I downsized to a t70 that weighs only 16.5 lbs and should make enough power to scare used food out of my body.

even though it probably doesnt need it, I had smi fab make me a mount that should help the pipes a bit.and it only cost 20 bucks. the idea is to weld or bolt it straight to the frame. I'll see how it goes
