Default New 1/4 mile best today

Made the trip to Bowling Green today, eas a bit of a cluster f*ck all day, got stuck in traffc for over an hour so ended up getting there a couple hours late, plus it was super crowded, plus the weather wasn t that great, 75* degrees and a falling barometer.

First pass something happened with the tree and I got no time, 2nd pass was a 9.21 @ 145, third pass was blowing the tires off the line and getting back on it around 100' out, not sure what happened to that malibu in the other lane but I heard a pop and he was heading right at me for a second. I was on the 275 radials again, honestly they work well sometimes but when they dont work they really suck lol. The cam is really running out of steam up top, but a 9.20 wasnt bad for the weather. If I catch a cool day it should get in the 9.0s and with the larger diameter slicks is should get a little closer to 150mph. Not bad for a 347, D1SC and Y-pipe exhaust I guess..

8's are around the corner. You know how to make a fast car. You want it faster, but like I said today 9 out of 10 guys with your setup would be happy/lucky to run 9.70's or so.

Good seeing you today.

I dont want it faster, hell I dont really want it at all lol - especially after a day like today. Under 1000ft DA, a cam change and 50-100lbs out of it would get in the 8s. I really wish there was some closer 1/4 mile tracks around here..

Any good pics/video you can e-mail me

nice Kp!!! I see that time vs mph and see how bad my weak 60s hurt. what was your 60 and 1/8 et/mph? I got those same tires and chattered the hell out of them....I need to go up on air pressure...I tried 16psi cause YOU did Mine did better at 18 cold.

you missed an excellent chance to run at SDR. the buick gns were there friday and saturday ....awesome track prep.....95% all drag tired cars and quick staging lanes...87 degree track temps. they ran friday from 10 AM to 11 PM

Wow, that's moving out good! Must be 60'ing really well to run that ET on that MPH. What is the race weight?

i am sure KP's 60' was great. his old setups have been mid 1.2 60' from what i remember. no reason to doubt this would do the same thing.

awesome results again!

Like he said earlier the cam is probably done up top and he had a slight stutter up top. He didn't have time to fix the tune as they were closing the lanes down.

If I had the money the car wouldn't be in Tennessee anymore lol, but I don't. It's sad, but I keep hoping no one comes up with the money so you push it into the 8's or something else happens that you just love it and wanna keep it.

Dont rub it in, it wasnt the best day yesterday for me, I may head up to SDR before the end of the season. Fridays are tough.. SDR typically is 2-3mph higher on 1/4 mile mph then BG, so dont pay too much attention the mph if you run at SDR mostly, different tracks have different clock setups. Here is the ET slip from yesterday and one from a couple years ago with my old car at SDR, notice the 1/8 to 1/4 mph difference on both. That was with my old car with pretty much the same cam and D1SC with the 3.4 pulley except it had 225 Dart heads on it at the time, but it was the same trans, converter, gear, weight etc. Wind may be a slight factor but SDR is the only track I ever picked up over 31mph from the 1/8 to 1/4, usually its 27-28mph. Not that its bad, all tracks are a little different..

Honestly if I retarded the cam and put some taller tires on it it would run closer to 150 at BG but the ET wouldnt change any, My old car I could let off and coast at 8-900' and still run a 9.0x @ 100mph, thats what shows you how important the first 330' is ET-wise. Granted big MPH shows you are making the power but weak ETs means you just arent using it well, but making 4000lbs 60 foot well certainly isnt easy

I can run 16psi no problem with these, 18 or so I just blow them off, pressure is pretty touchy though and all cars are different. I have all rod ends in the rear suspension and that cuts down on the radial chatter, if you have any rubber/poly bushings it will chatter bad. I'll probably go back to slicks, way more consistent, much better on marginal tracks and easier on parts.

Had a little miss up top near the traps but that was most like spark plugs, I have had the same ones in here since May and the top of the 1/4 mile is where you are putting the biggest strain on the ignition.

I wont sell it now, I'll keep it until spring at least, may as well enjoy the good weather..

I have been sitting in the staging lanes for over 30 years, gets old at some point. It was just a bad day, I didnt leave when I wanted to (wife and kids BS), I got stuck on the highway (truck accident) and didnt move an inch for 1.5 hours so I was very late, it was super crowded and I only had about 2 hours to race so I couldnt do anything - but thats racing.

I can put the car on the bumper if I want to, not only does it kill the 60 foot but it also breaks things. Good for pictures though but the only picture I care about is the one of the ET clocks

What do you have for shocks front and rear? How are they set?

Isn't that the truth. Nice passes! Good ole Beech Bend, I have always kinda liked that track. Ran there a bunch years ago with the Outlaw car, K&B in Bowling Green built it, so I tested there alot.

That T-brake, two step, 5000 stall, 3350 lb raceweight and a good hook are the reasons that little D1SC/347 LS1 runs so hard. Nonetheless, a little cammed 347/D1SC engine can get it done when the rest of the set-up favors its power curve.

Nice job! Although haven't you been 8's already with the D1 in the other car, same set-up, or was that with the F1A on it, can't remember even though this all looks so familiar. I like to see such a simple combo outrun alot of these turbo cars that are on this forum. Just shows a properly set-up package will yield great results.

Couple questions for you.
Was this with race gas? How much timing were you running? Boost?
