Thanks Jim! That welder is likelly older then I am LOL, But it has Hi freq. and 350amp of brute power and works great! As far as plans are concerned I just got done cutting all the hot side pipes off and upgrading to 45mm Turbosmart wastegates. I want to be able to run lower than 10psi on the street and the 38mm Tials weren't cutting it.
All that's left now is to get to the track and see if I can get in the 9s And I want to build a catch can for it.

Frank

Here are a couple pix of the new 45mm wastegates goin in. I had to cut all my 1 1/2" pipes out from the 38mm gates and replace them with 1 7/8" inlets and 1 3/4" outlets.

Looks great, although it "probably" wont be an issue anymore I would bet a BIG part of the issue of holding boost with the 38's was the 90* turn the exhaust has to make into the gate. The sharp turn is not ideal at all.

I run my twin 70s down to 8 psi no problem with twin 38mm turbosmart gates.

But like I said I am sure now with the bigger gate this will be a lot less of an issue.

I tried to get away from doing the 90, but I pretty much had no choice with the tight area and short hot side pipe.

This evening is the big test drive since the rain is finally out of here! I'm pretty confident there will be no more boost control issues.

Ya I understand sometimes the decision gets made for you even if you want to route things differently.

Either Way I am sure it will be good now !

Well, I got out for a test run yesterday! All is good. I put 5psi springs in the wastegates and it holds 5psi to 7k without it budging! Finally got to play with the e-boost2 a bit also, very cool little boost controller! It will soon be time for the track!

Prett cool little build. I was kinda wondering how that new intake would work. Would be cool for someone to maybe also pony up some similair heads from afr and tfs to test on your combo too, though those Darts really did really well in your build. I do envy your talents and skill. Wonder what that set up would do for a 5.3 far as heads intake and cam with those turbos would be?

Quick update- Got the exhaust made up. All 304 stainless with Borla XR1 mufflers. It's alot quieter and didn't seem to affect performance on the butt dyno.

Got some new shoes for the 17s. With the regular radials it was doing rolling burnouts at 70mph!! These stickys fixed that.

Had to whip up an air dam. With the hood on it wasn't getting enough flow through the radiator. This dropped my water temps by 20 deg.

This weekends project has been Ceramic coating. I went with Satin Black. Good for 2000* So far it has turned out really nice. It's alot of work to do it right though. I'm doing the manifolds, intermediate pipes, turbine housings, downpipes, and wastegate housings.

Here is the manifold hanging ready to shoot.

thats a pretty badass little paint setup frank, especially with the fan exhausting out the window. what did you make your air dam out of, steel or aluminum?
i had one made of 1/4 inch abs plastic that was pretty cool. Unfortunately i lost control of the car on the freeway and went through the ditch at about 50 mph, didnt hurt the car at all but the few inches of water shattered the air splitter so ive been kicking around the idea of building my own.

I made it out of steel, then powdercoated it. I would have no problems using aluminum though, I just didn't have any that thin laying around

That's my official earth friendly ceramic and powdercoat ventilation system. Pretty high tech huh

Awesome build! I am about to start a very similar build in a 69 Firebird. I was wondering, did I miss it or am I just oblivious to something.....where is your MAF?

I spent my half-day off reading and re-reading this thread. Amazing build! So damn clean. Makes my engine bay look like a trailer park after a tornado hit it.

LOL! I can so relate to that man! Its all the damn creature comforts that kills the sexiness of my engine bay. Well that and a Procharger isnt all that sexy but it did get cleaned up alot when I put the Griffin radiator in and polished the intercooler piping. I just wished F-Bodies had a little more room under the hood. I also wish half the damn motor wasnt buried under the firewall.

Question on the cam. I've read the entire post and havnt seen specs. If you want to keep it quiet I can understand but what was the LSA on that cam? It sounded like a choppy low LSA cam.

By the way, I love where this guy has gone with his build. Beautiful, powerful, and efficient.
