its been said, many times, that putting your wastegate dump into the downpipe with no flexpipe, is a recipe for quick cracking.

something about different heating rates. I would either dump to atmosphere , or use a flex tube.

btw, this build is AWESOME!!!
I think twins are so much easier to implement that my next one will be twins for sure. it looks amazing with those c6 manifolds, and I like where you put the intercooler.

question. how are you planning to relocate your coils, and what plug wires will you be using? thanks

Thanks for the heads up! I wasn't aware of needing the flex pipe. I'm going to have to find some pretty short ones if I use the same location. Or I can always weld up the downpipes and run dumps out to atmosphere like you suggested.

My plan for the coil pack are to fab up a mount and have them beside the block on each side. I had them mocked up and it's looking like factory wire lenght will still work, but I'm not 100% yet. I'm going to work on that this week while the engine is on the stand.

man, thats what Im working on this weekend as well and Im not too excited about it . you are not planning to drill the block are you?

please post pics of the relocation bracket progress.

here is a thread that speaks more on the wastegate dump

71 Chevy, Is that your car in the thread you linked on Yellowbullet??

I whipped up some mounts for the coilpacks last night. Pretty simple really, I used 3/8" stainless tubing for spacers and some 1" stainless bar for mounts. Made the bar kind of U shaped, but at the angle I needed and welded it to the top and bottom spacer.

Started making a heatsheild for the master cyl. too. Gotta love old road signs!

wow, thats ingenious. I wish I could do something like that with the truck coils but they are oriented differently and I just dont trust the mounts. i ended up deciding to just run them in stock location and wrap the manifold plus use some sparkplug wire protectors.

Gosh no thats not my car. I wish it were though. I have a rat rod 71 nova

Well, it was hard to bring myself to do it, but I cut into my brand new intake tonight! Had to bring the angle of the throttle body up so the I/C piping will flow into the TB better.

Thanks guys.
I got a chance to weld up the intake tonight. Don't pay too much attention to the weld, I really need to take a welding class, but I didn't butcher it up too bad considering I'm self taught.
I was thinking about trying to hit it with some course sand in my spot blaster and see if I can match the cast texture.

Nah sometimes you gotta leave stuff like that so people can see how much work you put into it.

I haven't been getting a whole lot done latelly Brian. But here is a quick update.

I whipped up a coupld Dzus fastener mounts out of stainless and mounded them on top of my grill to hold down the center of the hood. I noticed at higher speed the hood would flex in the middle and bow up. Problem solved

Had to make up some spacers so I can run the LS2 water pump that way I have more clearance for a fan behind the radiator.

Got the heads off the motor and motor prepped for the new heads.

I wanted to clean out the threads in the block but couldn't find a 11mm tap in my arsenal so I had to improvise. Cut 2 flutes in a stock head bolt and it worked great!

Head studs are in.
