Default boost controler?

i have a t76 kit for my truck on the way, i plan on building the motor in the future and pushing it hard. i would like a boost controler just for the ease of adjustment.

whats a good unit, what features are important? what features are not worth paying for. would one of there units take the place of a boost gauge and free up a little gauge space.

Question

Eww, no Profec B, it's basically two manual controllers with a switch between them.
How convoluted is your setup?
How much max boost?
Do you want stuff like gear/rpm/speed dependent boost?
Do you need different 'profiles' for various octane?

That's just off the top of my head, there's probably more. Gimme some detail and I'll get back to you with some choices. or just AIM me at 'bushmannt'.

single t76 on a buit 409 is my plan, i have the turbo kit on the way but it will going on a stock 6.0 for now. i plan on adjusting the boost for diferent octane and motor set ups regularly. doubt i will ever get over 15psi.

can you run more boost at higher rpm's, if you can i might try and mess with the boost vs rpm feature. i mainly want something that i can adjust easialy and acurately but some of those other features might be nice some day.

I use a manual boost controller that I designed. It simple and would work with a single hose or double hose actuator. It consists of a relief valve and check valve in parallel. Relief valve outlet points toward the actuator and check valve outlet points toward the engine. The relief valve is the pop-type, meaning no leakage until the set point is reached. The check valve allows the vacuum to hold the actuator shut during non-boost applications. So you get a boost block which means the turbo will spool that fastest it can. Since the relief valve and check valve are in parallel no boost spikes. It has actually made the car an animal from a stop. With the Incon kit and boost controller set at 9 psig I get 9 psig almost instantly. The valves are as cheap as the grainger bleed valves or the daws boost controllers but the other devices don't work well with single ports. Anyway the relief valve and check valve are about $15 each so it pretty cheap. Fixed open pressure check valve of 1/3 crack part # B-4CP2-1/3

Adjustable check valve (relief valve) part # B-4CPA2-3

Parts are brase 1/4" male npt connections. You can get them in female npt, stainless, etc.

The parts are from www.swagelok.com This is not in-car adjustable but I did not want it to be. I also have a thumb adjustable back pressure regulator (relief valve) that I may try, but have not had time.

yes i like mine fine and has more features than you will ever use..

3 boost settings (internally or externally activated)

1 boost dependent output (used this to turn on second fuel pump)

has audible alarm, bar graph and digital readout you can set to whatever scale you want.

fits in a 2-5/8 gauge pod or a/c vent on a firebird.

well heck read this

http://www.turbosmart.com.au/boost_c...electronic.htm
and i got mine on ebay for 450.
