How much did your boosting setup cost you? I don't mean internal motor work I mean tubro/piping and blower/piping which means like blow off vavles and accesories. Thanks guys

theres a stickie on this very subject,
but it seems to be between 2500 and unlimited, it depends a lot on how much you do yourself and how much money you can recoup by selling aftermarket parts you no longer need, like lid's and Long Tubes and stuff.

A more proper perspective is "How do you limit the boost pressure". Unrestricted (that is to say, without a Wastegate) the PSI would build until you destroyed the motor. Using a waste gate and a boost controller, you can limit the boost to either a low setting or a max setting or anywhere inbetween. Best setup is to get a properly sized WG (WasteGate) for your Turbo(WG's come in 38mm, 50mm, etc), put a 10psi spring in it and then use a boost controller to define the PSI to activate the WG. I have a 10psi spring in mine and use an electronic boost controller (AEM TruBoost) http://www.aempower.com/ViewCategory.aspx?CategoryID=68
to set my two configurations at 10 psi and 14psi. A press of the buttons and I can toggle between the two. Street driving, I use 10 psi. At the track (or "spirited" acceleration beatdowns) I use the 14 psi setting.

Thats a tough question.. My current setup is the net result of trading, selling off old stuff, buying new stuff, etc. If I had to put an exact price on everything my current FI setup consists of, I'd say about $4572, 1.29 gallons of blood, 5.08 gallons of sweat, 1.8 quarts of tears, 1 wife, a few pissed off neighbors, 9 holes in the garage wall from throwing wrenches, and 326 busted knuckles.. All this is approximate- as you will be way better off in the long run not keeping track of it all!

Im at about 3800 with doing everything right, meaning upgrading oil pump, timing chain, plugs and wires, upgrading the fuels system(injectors as well as pump) and a couple other small things. I still have another 200 in internals(valvesprings, pushrods and tools). I also have another 200 having **** welded(tap for oil pan, o2 sensors, cold side piping). I still have another 650 for HP tuners, 125 for a base tune from frost and another 400 for dynotuning. Ill be closer to 6k when this is all said and done...

LOL Ide loan you my right nut but it just got spent on my ride a few months back and im still spending money just doing stupid little **** here and there over the winter here ,,, like swapping out my UMI K member for the new BMR which gives the turbo inlet hoses alittle more room in there.LOL
Ide say for a nice setup up with quality turbos or turbo, ide say save atleast $5000 and this will include the intercooler as well

FMIC(Ebay) = approx $225
(Ebay)Intercooler Tubing kit(straights, bends, T-bolts, couplers) = $100'ish. (I see the same kit is now only $73)
Turbosmart 38mm wastegate = approx $230
Tial 50mm blowoff valve = approx $250
Realquick Hotside = $999
AEM truboost controller = approx $200
Shipping not included.

It's better to plan on it coming together in a year or so. Just buy a bit here, a bit there and before you know it, you'll have all the pieces. Just pulling out your wallet to buy it all in one movement will make you puke. I actually bought the Turbo itself back in 2006, all the other parts here and there thru 2007 and got the car actually up and running in 2008. Normally I'm waaay too impatient for that but I just had set a goal for myself and the car and stayed on task until it was done. Right now, it is sooo worth it.

I bought my D1 kit used for $3300 spent about another $800 on stuff I needed to get the car going. Then once I built a motor and did all my supporting mods it went Way up. Not sure I want to count anymore
If you are just looking to boost a stock motor you could get with spending $3500-$5000 to start but be prepared to spend more
