Turbo Car or Blown Car I know I know this is an all to debated topic but I am also on the fence as to waht route I should take. 2002 WS6 with 16k miles on it, slp longtubes, ORY Pipe, BBk Intake Manifold, TB, and dyno tune. Makin 360 to the wheels not but lookin for some good power. I plan on swapping out the rear, clutch, and beefin up the trans although am unsrue as to engine components. With this setup, what seems to work best, Turbo, Procharger, or Supercharger. If anyone has experiance let me know I wanna get some opinions and experiances. Hope all is well.
A procharger setup is easy and reliable. It can get you close to or at ~500rwhp (+/-30) with your current mods on 8lbs. I would not go any higher then 550rwhp on the stock bottom end in terms of reliability on the engine.
I think most people will probably agree that a Procharger is a nice easy way to make the power...less complex than a turbo set up etc.
I personally went Turbo and will never look back...

I'm a turbo guy all the way, but I'd recommend a supercharger just cause it's easier to install in the f-bodies (unless you go rear mount)...
however, you will regret it when you beat a turbo car at the track, he pops his hood for 30 seconds, makes one turn on his waist gate then beats you in round two.
You can hit the limit of the rods / pistons with any of your choices.

Centrifugal superchargers such as the Procharger and Vortech have a better initial hit than a turbo BUT, it builds boost similar to a turbo. In general, I see turbo cars make better overall power and trap higher. Procharger is popular due to its self contained oiling system, emissions, and ease of install usually for 7k. I have heard Vortech has had some issues with their head units. You could look into MAGNUSON. Im pretty sure they make an F-body kit. Nothing like the whine and 90 degree angle dyno charts of a roots blower.

Thakns for the responses, I am definatly looking at a procharger or magnacharger. Personally I am a fan of turbos but dont like the rear mounts at all. Also I was looking around and it seems that prochargers are getting some good power on my setup and runnin some good times at the track. Install is relatively easy on the Magnason superchargers as well as the prochargers correct?
Considering your existing mods, wanting street friendly, reliability, ease of install, and stock bottom end, I'd go D1SC. This will work well in the stock configuration but also leave room to grow.
The only thing that I dont like about the chargers is it's always when you're driven under boost. And to me thier is know reason to put your motor under boost if the are know use of it. But that is my 2 cents

I like that procharger gives a warrenty wtih their product. I hear the STS systems have some problems and again not a fan of the rear mounts although I like the way it saves space under teh hood. Anyone have an STS system, I always see people bashing them, wahts the deal?
English?If I understood... Neither of my blown cars are in boost at lower RPM and during casual driving.
I assure you that neither of my blown cars are in boost at that speed unless I want them to be. They are both showing vacuum, not boost while in the appropriate gear for casual driving. Boost in a blown car is RPM dependent, not speed dependent. I could be in boost at that speed if I intentionally kept the trans down in 2nd gear or maybe even 3rd, but not when driving normally because I would be in 4th gear or higher at that speed and most definitely not in boost.
If you don't want crazy power (800RW+) go with the ProCharger, do yourself a favor and do what Photochop said, get a D1-SC kit from EPP with 8 rib pulleys and twin 4.5" intercoolers. There will be zero belt slip, and if you ever want to go bigger, the D1-SC can support a little over 800RWHP. If your goal is big power, and you have a big wallet, go turbo.
