Talking how much power from meth

Well,

it seems im in the mood to start working on my Z06 once again, for those who dont know I got a new ZR1 and forgot all about that poor Z06

The last time on the dyno, IAT's reached 225F, I sorted out the big part of that problem, and in addition I finally decided to install the meth kit.

will be running 1bar of boost, meth and 93 octane. Any idea how much of a power increase will I see with the IAT dropped from 225 to 85 along with the increase in timing at that boost level?

Guesses would do fine (not asking for more)

well, when running 13 degrees of timing, my bird put down 624, with 15 degrees it put down 658. so 2 degrees added 34 degrees of timing.

keep in mind that this was when they were tuning the car and gradually bumping up the timing table. no meth was used on these runs.

i would guess maybe 50 more wheel hp if you added 2 degrees more and if the temp dropped substancially. also, the car will be less detonation prone which will help in the hotter climate of the UAE

Well, I think it will be more than a 2degree increase in timing, probably more like going from 15 to 21, again all depending on how much timing the car would handle before detonation

The temps should be close to ambient, which means the drop from the last dyno session will be HUGE, im seriously hoping for a 100rwhp increase, which is not impossible at that boost level, skyrocketing IAT etc...

Never liked the idea, but power gains are intresting, how much power did you see with meth vs without meth?

Never ran without it, but at 15psi I would guess it nets me 40-50hp from the added timing

Supercharged or turbo? Turbo would make more power out of the added timing vs supercharged, due to the fact that the turbine housing will flow much more air per pound of boost with higher timing since more timing lowers exhaust gas density.

I dont know how that translates on paper, but again ive seen 50rwhp on low boost SC applications, high boost should make much more esp. on a turbo car.

I just threw a number, the car does 16degrees at 1bar of boost and 93pump, Lets say 21 is alot, ill try 20 then lol.

I mean the motor is a forged low comp 9.1:1, turbo cam etc...

A stock ZR1 swallows 26degrees of timing on pump, can you imagine? I didnt even go more than 26, that was enough to freak me out in terms of timing.

My car was tuned on 91 oct pump gas only and did 590rwhp at 15psi boost. Just spraying a 70/30 meth/water mix from a single nozzle located before the iat sensor, the PCM added 1 degree of timing from the cooler charge and the car picked up 26rwhp. Eventually I'd like to actually tune for meth, but for now use it as a safeguard basically. Not to say this is a rule of thumb by anymeans, just food for thought.

I hope that the changes you made alone are going to make a big difference because I cant see meth dropping the iat half of the difference you are expecting.

they did no doubt on that one, the meth will take care of the rest.

Now again, turbo cars TUNED for meth, how much do you see at 1bar of boost.

You will get a big power difference if you tune for the meth......just do it

Edit.....just remember it needs to be slightly richer because the stoich on meth is like 9.x....My car is tuned for 10.9-11.0 and my alkycontrol kit is maxed out with a m15 jet
