We usually only get to the shop once a week at best.
What all did you go through to have to get them to fit? I remember reading your thread about the warpage.

Torqed the **** out of them down to a huge chunk of steel (that was true). The heated each header until it was glowing red hot with a torch for like 15 minutes each. Then some final touches with a belt sander. The flanges are a little thinner than ideal but at this point they will suffice.

I had like four of the local machine shops say they couldn't fix them but my best friend came though. Hope they work! hehe

Hoping to get the short charge pipes installed in the next week, and maybe the WG plumbed and mounted.

I posted those pics on the last page

Should have some more progress pics in the next week. Should have charge pipes, and WG mounted, and maybe downpipes.

Planning on just dumping them in front of the front wheels for now. Just want the car to run before I get all fancy and find a way to route a 3.5" DP through the drivers side :scratcheshead: (the passenger side will be easy)

Little bit of progress. Thanks Matt. He said making the transition perfect was a bitch with SS, and would have taken 1/10 the time if it was mild steel hahahah.

Tell Matt to keep all this locked away in his head. One day I'll turn the Z28 into a beast and it looks like Matt will be worth any amout he want to charge.

Made some progress today with the downpipes. Just dumping them out the side of the car for now. Once its running we'll worry about how the F to run a 3.5" DP over the K-member on the drivers side. Thank again Matt. LOVE the work, and the fact that this is just a little project that my best friend is chipping away at in the little free time he has! Sorry for the low quality pictures, they were sent to me as text messages then uploaded from my SD card.

Got one WG mounted and it looks NASTY. I was going to wait to post pics until both are mounted...and plumbed into the DP. Hopefully within the next week. We have both been busy over the Holiday. Thanks for following!

Got both wastegates mounted! The idea was to have them symmetrically oppose each other.....but we should have known this was a pretty tough feat. None the less, my buddy Matt had it pulled off until the stupid v-band that the WG sits on just REFUSED to sit flush on the feed pipe. I haven't seen it in person but it looks DAMN close to me! Either way I think it looks BAD ***, and will only look more narly one the WG dumps are plumbed back into the DPs!!!!

Made big progress on the twin kit yesterday. Only need to finish up the cold pipes, mount the BOV, and make a bracket for the intercooler, maybe a half days work. THEN we can start the 1000s of hours of little **** to finish up; new fuel system including cell, water box/plumbing, lots of wiring, brake line plumbing, etc...

Finishing the dumps for the WG back into the DPs

This was our first plan for IC mounting, to have it poke through the fire wall. Once we test fit it, there simply was not enough room to finangle the 4" pipes back in the ECU area....at least with this set-up.

So we went back to the drawing board, and decided we had to pass the pipes through the firewall much closer to eachother.

'

My buddy Matt who does the fab said the aluminum I got absouloutly sucks. In his 20ish years of welding, he has never had issues like he did building the merge, (2) 3" pipes into (1) 4". The welds were a bitch to get to "stick". It was like it was contaminated no matter how much we cleaned and brushed it.
