Default The setup....

I have been trollin around here for a lonnnnnnnnnnnnng time trying to piece together what i want for my setup. Well I figured I would go ahead and post what is the best way to do this.

This is what I wanna do...

Single Turbo T-76

Now I need to know what is the best way to go about this motor. I have thought about the Lunati 8.5:1 CR kit, with all that stuff. With this setup and with the power im gonna be puttin down is this even worht it?

or should I go with a cutom ground cam, 6.0L heads, what kind of pistons? stuff like that. what am I exactly gonna need to make this work and make this motor bullit proof to hold alot of boost somewhere around 12-15 on pump gas. and take it even higher when racing, or maybe even higher then that on the race gas.

Thanks alot guys this has been getting my mind bent backwards trying to figure all this out.

Seeya!

What exactly are you asking? Sounds like you know what you need. If you want to do the internals of the engine, 6 litre heads and an FI system all at once, set at least $11K aside first. If your engine is running now you could buy a turbo kit and keep the boost low until you can do everything else.

I would do good rods, forged pistons (9:1) and stock crank in a stock cleaned up block

big headstuds, mainstuds and good gaskets. fairly mild cam, good springs/lifters. Heads flowing in the 300cfm/228cfm range I/E.

That should be good to over 700RWHP easily with the right tune and fuel system on race gas.

You said "the power I'm going to be putting down" ... What kind of power do you want to put down? High dyno #s are cool for bragging rights, but require the rest of the car be up to par in terms of safety equipment, drivetrain, and fuel system.

The power im shooting for is about what chris are 360 said, somewhere around 700rwhp or more...

As of right now im getting all the parts together for my motor and then comes the fuel setup along with all the guages. What would be a good fuel setup to do now that we are on this topic. A walbro fuel pump?

as for drivetrain Right now I have the stock 4L60E tranny that I know is going to exspload. I was thinking of switching to a fully built T-56, 9'' rear with 3.73 gears.

I do not want a TH400 with a stall or nothing cause I want the car to be fully streeable without any type of stall oy anything. The car will be running at the drag strip with a cage and everything but I want the car to be just like it is now. not turning into a drag car with a big stall.

thanks alot man.

Just having a decent converter does not mean its a drag only car! Some cars can be MORE streetable with a loose stall. And when you're talking about 700 RWHP, you'd want a decent stall to keep from smoking the tires every time you take off. If you are set on using a single turbo, you probably don't want 3.73 gears. 3.42 would probably suit you better in the 1/4.

And you can have an auto built to handle that power (TH400, 200R4, 4l80, or 4l60), and all said and done it'd probably be cheaper than a built T56 plus the cost of swapping it in.

Edit: Oh yeah go to www.quartermileperformance.com and look at the single turbo kit on the firebird. With a lower compression ratio, it could be in the 700 hp range.

Any 4L60E or 200R4 you put behind a heavy car with 700RWHP and at least that much torque is going to scatter. Does anybody know if a 4L80 will fit an F body trans tunnel?

For a fuel system you can skip the kiddie pumps and go right to a Weldon -15 pump. That will run continuous on the street without the need for a stepdown box and will be the last pump you'll likely need.

You'll need at least 72#s for +700RWHP

Extreme Automatics 4L60E or 2004R (Cincinnati, Ohio...email me if you need a price quote), Neil Chance or Yank converter, 95lb injectors, FAST System or Gen7, (a 3rd possibility is LS1Edit with an impedance converter box for the 95#'ers), 3.42 gears MAX (maybe even 3.23's depending on tire size), Weldon 2015 pump with billet rails, -10 feed line, -6 return, and a 1:1 regulator.

That should get you started anyway. 650-700rwhp would be pretty easy with that combo.

Happy Holidays!
