What happened? Why did you decide against it? Is there any way I can help?

I'm just full of questions...or something.

I was planning on going the S/C route, but after researching I think I want to stay with a turbo setup. I think my biggest problem with the kit is I can only go to a T76 turbo which I dont think would be enough for my current motor. But I'm building a new low compression motor over the winter and I'm trying to decide between 366(iron block), 383(aluminum block), or 409(iron) cubes. I can always build the motor to suit the T76, but I know down the road I'm going to want to go bigger.

How much work is it to make a T80 or T88 fit?

I agree you have a big motor, but the T76 should be fine for now. Also reliable. You can run 10lbs of boost and make crazy power. My question is how much power do you want? What is your compression currently? For a 409ci to only make 450rwhp/450rwtq your compression cant be over 9.5:1. If it is I think you need to get more tuning. This is JMO.

looks like to me that the t76 would spool pretty quickly with your set up. IMO thats what I would stick with for now..... unless you plan on going with some INSANE boost.

A T76 Q trim will support 950fwhp. At 15lbs of boost and your current engine (provided it is 9.5:1 or less), it would make approximately 800rwhp. Plenty enough power to run deep 9's with a 3500lb car. Even the cam you have will work for the turbo. All I would do is change to a 1.30 AR exhaust housing.

No way I'd ditch the kit just yet.

I'm running about 10.5:1 with my current heads. The 450hp is on a Mustang dyno so it would be ~500hp on a Dynojet. The car is capable of mid 10s.

That makes more sense, but I say change the heads to drop the compression if you can and go with the T76. Your current setup is making good power. On a dynojet you are right at 500/500. Perfect street setup.. I am looking for those same #'s on my next setup NA..

What exactly are you planning to do with this car that a T76 isn't enough for?

I'm currently running 6.0L heads, and cant drop the compression all that much.

I'm hoping to get some mid 9 second passes if not faster with a turbo setup. I figure if I can get mid 10s on all motor, then mid 9s with a turbo shouldn't be hard.

Give it a try. Rob will help you as much as he can. He knows his stuff when it comes to a turbo setup. Give it a try.

That 11.6 @ 121mph run was done with zero tuning. The pcm was just setup for the bigger injectors and just to get the car running smoothly. I was only dynoing about 390 to 400 hp at the wheels when I did that run. I havnt been able to get back to the track since I get my tuning done though but I'm faster on the street than all my friends that have high 10 second cars.

What cc are the chambers on your current heads? We can get you a set of custom 77cc TEA heads that should lower you down to about 9.8:1-10.0:1. Then bolt on the turbo kit with the T76, tune it, and let it rip.

What do you plan on doing about injectors, fuel system, and fuel management? All of those will have to be addressed no matter what you do if you plan on running mid 9's.

I thought the heads were around 72 or 75 cc. I'm not positive but I can find out tomorrow. And I think I would rather wait and see how the AFR heads turn out since they should be out by time I have the motor built and also I'd really be kicking myself in the pants if they out perform something I just spent $2000 on.

For the fuel system, I already have an inline pump but I know that wont be enough. I'd prolly be going to dual intank walbros. Probably have the 2nd pump turn on at WOT. I know I need bigger injectors, but I'd have to figure out what size etc and I would most definately be going to a Fast or Accel gen 7 setup. I know a couple of guys that have worked with the Fast setup and really liked it. I'm kind of leary of the Accel gen 7, a local guy with a turbo setup had nightmares with it until he switched over to Fast.

*EDIT*
The heads are either 69 or 70cc. Final compression ratio is 10.8 with flat top pistons, 2cc valve reliefs, and a compression height of 1.1 if i remember correctly
