Rear mount gto build. :) LQx REBUILD TO COME

This is exactly what I was talking about. Just strap a second pump onto the side of the bucket and some how tee them together. I'll have this setup finished Tue. and we'll see how. I think the my builder has located a y fitting that works with the OEM pushlock hose. Put the second pump on a hobbs switch so not to overload the regulator at idle or burn out the second pump when the fuel level gets low.
I've never seen pics of anyone that has done this without scraping the bucket and just ying the pumps together with rubber hose. We'll see very soon.

alrighty then guys. I will do this. ill throw the stock pump on the outside somewhere and see what she can do. Leave the walbro sticking in the factory location and let it do its thing i suppose. I like the idea on the hobbs switch, this way when i start loosing pressure, i can bump it back up. I pulled that single walbro down to 32 psi before it leaned out on 60lb injectors.

I'm glad you confirmed what I see all the time. 38 psi on 60's. Guys on ls1gto.com say this pump will supply 60's. Not even close. Even with a BAP I only get 50 psi. My tank will be done today. Pics to come.

eric, you are more then welcome to pop a few pics of that setup in here, for easy reference of course
and hell no, a sinlge walbro cannot even come close to supporting the 60s.
i will report back with what happens when i add my stock pump into the equation. Hell, i have two stock pumps i could get my hands on, lol.

there is no way to get three pumps in, two is a very tight fit, you will have to cut the bucket a little, wish i would have takin pics to give you, there should be a inset on the float side of the bucket ,you cut at the point where the inset comes back out to the full bucket diameter and you remove that hole piece, the filter sock will fit half in and half out of the bucket

My dual in-tank pump set up
Here is a link to the details of the install. I'll post a few pics here just to share ideas. I paid a local speed shop $280 parts and labor for this. It's easy to copy except for the push-lock to NPT fitting that Anthony had to make. Surely this part can be found somewhere. This is a easy install except for finding or in my case making the push-lock to NPT fitting.

This gives plenty of flow but still uses the OEM regulator which is inefficient. It maintains 52 psi at the rails due to its location. I can make due with 52 but will eventually run a new feed and front regulator. Not bad for $280

so is that pump just sitting on the bottom now??
eric, is the 05/06 bucket any different?? i seem to remember my pump seating inside a plastic housing with a rubber oring. how are you still utilizing the stock regulator if its like mine?? i really need to pull my tank this week and ivestigate.

It's about 1/2" up. But the strainer/sock has a plastic standoff insert that makes it irrelevant. I don't like the 90 degree turn out of the tee but the builder says it's not a restriction?

i just realized, im a freaking idiot. lol. the bottom part is just a housing for the pump. i gotcha, the actual regulator part is in the top of the whole "bucket" assemble. Gotcha. Well, im going to try this with a stock pump in conjunction and see what happens. Itll be a week or so till i get a chance. money is nill right now. lol plus, still can figure out this first gear boost issue.

that is just the second pump. I added a third shot that shows the bucket with the first pump also. As for the regulator, even though it is in the bucket it still controls the pressure in the line. Even if I run it on the 2nd pump alone excess fuel will flow backwards into the bucket to maintain 60 at the regulator if necessary.

I know there is a right way, a wrong way, and a way that WILL work. Doing what eric did is what guys have been doing for a long time.
Next season when the motor comes out to be built, i have every intention of building a fuel return system with boost refreneced reg at the rail and a BIG *** fuel pump.
but im going to just do this for the time being so that i can atleast enjoy my car a little bit this year.

Every GTO fuel option out there has a major flaw with the exception of external pumps with a fitting on the tank, or a surge tank.
You will save time and money by going that route the first time. I've been through all of them and this is the only one that is truly reliable.
"Big ***" fuel pumps are not needed, you can do just fine with Walboro twin pumps for $200.

Arthur. I do agree. I've seen your posts on ls1gto as well. I'm only spending what. Like 30 bucks. I'm only doing this to hold me over till next season. That's all. No big deal. My summmit cart is already full of my magnafuel setup and sumped poly fuel cell. This is nearly a hold me over: )
