well aware of this, with the cam I had spec'd out, it should be shifting about 7500 or so. We shall see though since I have quite a bit cubes less than a stock LS1. I am just making a point that if i need to, my builder said its safe to spin it that high. I am doing a s480 on my setup, so I will need to rev it to make the power anyhow.

i hope your kidding

4.8 has a 83mm stroke, ls1 has 91.9 MM, 5.3 has a 92mm stroke, so .1mm larger than an ls1's stroke

kthxbye

Keep me updated on this, I want to see what numbers you put down and how it all goes down. Sounds awesome though!

I agree. Once you cam for that speed, and get your turbo size so it's efficient way up there, you're going to have a saggy dog bottom end. And anyone might want to rethink putting a Ti exhaust valve on a turbo engine that doesn't get pulled apart after every race.

No replacement for displacement! A 383 or 388 with a turbo on a street car is a killer all-round combo. Go for it!

Inconel might be a better choice than titanium for exhaust valves in boosted engines.

Why not if the motor is making the power? If it drops off then it would be pointless.

because before with a tv7512 on my old LT1, (same as s475 pretty much), driving down the highway with a 3 speed automatic I was in boost with my gearing.

By having to use a bigger turbo it will eliminate that, but it means I have to rev higher.

Using just a t70 that would spool good on this small of a motor is going to limit the power that I am after.

Think of hondas. theres 500 HP hondas out there on 1.8l's, they rev higher than I am even thinking about, and still retain good drivability. That same concept will be applied here.

Small motor to make big power = spin the hell out of it.

I'll be able to see 700 at the wheels no problem with a TINY motor compared to most. Hell,"quik" on TTF has a stock 4.8 with a smaller cam pushing 702 at the wheels and he is spinning to 7500.

Also, I want to just flat out try something different. I dont have much $$ into the motor, so if it doesnt work like I planned, it's not like i'm out 5k.

Just remember that at 7500rpm the inertial loads on the motor will be about 156% greater than when it was running at 6000rpm. Those loads demand excellent parts and start blowing a modest budget.

FWIW, his 4.8 ran for quite a while, he pulled it apart, still looked brand new inside. Its now going in a camaro

isnt this your car too btw? seems like a pretty good idle tune anyways https://ls1tech.com/forums/12252754-post24.html

arent you the same guy that took your car to him to tune...in the rain......with MT's on the back? j/w if i'm thinking of the same person here....

Yeah, that's his car. I was there and quik tuned mine at the same time (and he has tuned it several times actually). It was raining and neither of our cars would even stay running when he got there and they both idled great and ran pretty damn good considering the conditions when he was done. The tunes that they got that day were pretty much to be a starting point to be tweaked later and he told us both not to spray until he had more time with them, preferably on a dyno. I listened and mine still runs great other than a stupid wiring issue. Tom didn't listen and sprayed the **** out of the car and now claims it runs like ****. Duh, it wasn't tuned for spray yet. The reason he has a stroker in it is because I put the heads/cam/etc on top of the stock bottom end and he didn't listen and ran the hell out of it with stock injectors(which I told him were too small before I touched the car, but hey I did what he asked) and melted a piston.
Quik has been tweaking my car for quite a while now and it still runs great. I haven't had anyone ride in my car that wasn't impressed with how it ran either. SSdoublek's car was done by quik and still runs strong too.
Tom's car running like **** isn't quik's fault, it's his own for not listening and he jumped so fast to bad mouth him that he burned that bridge so of course it doesn't run as good as it could, it wasn't done and last I knew still wasn't together because he burned a bridge with fergymoto who was putting it back together with a new clutch for him again. Tom called me and wanted me to go pick up the car and finish the car for him but I don't want anything to do with it anymore after seeing how he runs his mouth about people every chance he gets.

Hmmm, Quik's tuned my ride everytime I've done a upgrade, car doesn't smoke, runs strong as hell, and he explain's in detail everything he does while he tunes. Hell he always double, triple checks all his work with you and asks are you happy with the results before he leaves. If you want a great tuner Quik is your guy,I tell many of people this on my route that are looking to tune there ride.

anyways guys, the current cam I have for my little 312 motor is 236/242 .612/.612 113+2, however I am calling futral and bullet tomorrow to talk about a custom cam.

Quik was spinning his to 7500 for what, like 10k miles and it was perfect once he tore it apart. Mine will be built a little better, so we'll see how it does. Oughta be a fun experience anyways.
