need shortblock advice
6.0 heads, 6.0 OEM MLS gaskets, standard ARP studs. That's what i've always used, never had any issues with lifting or pressure in the cooling system.
I had steel caps in the first motor i built, what a waste. lasted 1k miles, spun 3 mains, trashed the caps, crank, and block (I still think the line bore was off). I've since stuck w/ the factory caps and line bore. Until I split one, i'm just gonna stick with the PM caps and studs.
That motor was cursed i think, too many machining screw-ups on one block should be a sign

Amazingly I have only seen one set of stock rods bent due to detonation..which in normal cases with stock rods and pistons, the ring lans on the pistons would snap first...however these rods were connected to Diamond Forged Pistons, like I mentioned above, when you beef up one area the stress gets transfered to the next weakest part. Stock rods I think are only good for 450bhp..but these were still the first I seen bent.
I have stock main caps and bearings. I am using the Lunati Pro Billet 6.125" rods...which come with the 7/16" ARP Rod Bolts.
As it is I do not forsee anything breaking because the load is relieved by the tires spinning. As soon as I put some MT/ETs on the car and push for a hard launch I expect something under the load could break...I think most likely it will be the transmission output shaft or a 1/2 shaft...this is where having a solid rear axle really makes a difference.
