Default procharger and ls1 :)

got my stock bottom end ls1 ready to rock.. issue is 11:1 compression due to the patriot 5.3L stge 3 heads I have on it.. which I love.. I have the rod bolts upgraded to arp's..

im planning on adding a intercooled p1sc supercharger to my motor and boost around 7psi.. given the right tune and injectors etc.. would it be safe at that cr? I assume it would be since a stock ls2 is pretty much the same cr as me now.. and they run 10psi intercooled all the time.. i plan to run 93 octane tho with no meth injection... anyone have thoughts or questions?

Run meth! Thats a little to much comp for boost. 7psi isnt to bad but why play around with death? lol Any little detonation and it could be game over!

I understand about the detonation and i guess i forgot to mention it, but the stock intercooler that comes with the procharger kit.. I paid a lil extra and got there larger 3 core intercooler to help stay away from detonation.. I figured better to do that then have another system to mess with such as meth.. I think ill be good.. or do you really think id need meth?

Go with meth. I'd never go back now that I run it. Also, most kits are pretty simple. Your going to want it later anyway when you up your setup so why not just get it now...be safer now...and set up for later lol Its a game of roulette...dont **** with it lol My IAT's went from 90's (Large FMIC) to high 30's lol. 0 Knock retard/det...ever lol I got my kit from cooling mist and it was around 500 bucks. PM me, I have a friend selling his kit+extras (same kit as mine vari cool 2)

I really cant afford the meth injection at this time. but thanks anyways man! I think I will just drop my boost dreams from 7psi down to 5psi as I save up for money for the meth injection so I can bump up to 7psi later down the road.. I think my intercooler will be able to keep temps cool enough to allow me to run 93 octane safely I think.. 520whp is my goal on this setup! im already at 397hp at the wheels natural, adding 5psi of boost should net me close to my 520who goal! least id think? aught to be fun!

Change the heads. 317's will drop the comp....atleast 243's/241's will as well.

change the head gaskets. i put a set of .085 mls gaskets on mine i think it lowered it to 9.5 to 1 i think. i also have them for sale because my stock bottom end motor didnt make it off the dyno lol if u need them i will sell them

Dont re-use head gaskets. Also, trade or sell your heads for a more boost friendly head. Head gaskets alone wont drop compression a half point alone on a stock comp motor. 72cc 317 heads drop it to around 9.6-1. Maybe thats why it didnt make it? lol...more comp then you thought.

I am running stock motor and heads. My car made 611rwhp no meth on 8lbs boost and epp blower cam. I have 4,000 miles on it now with no problems. I too however want to add meth. IM going to keep mine at 10.5 to 1.

I had a fully forged 346 with 11.5CR and 6.5 lbs of boost. I burned a hole in 3 pistons. But tuner also left my timing too high. An intercooler will help you but you need the meth to add the octane.

Yeah Having a good tuner helps also.

how much lower rpm performance do you give up going from 10:5 or 11:1 CR down to 9.5:1 with the 317 heads? can you make up that performance loss by ordering a custom cam or running higher boost?

Prochargers shine from 3K+. Theres more avaible CFM throughout the whole rpm band. If you put a stock set of 241's or 243's it'll lower comp to around 10.1-1 for the 241's and a little higher on the 234's. I ran my setup on stock 853's for a long time on stock comp and she was fine at 9psi. Your target AFR should be around 11.0 or so for saftey. Timing should be conservitave as well 13deg or so throw in a blower cam
