Default Getting ready to start project 9 sec TT

Everything is finally ready to get started within the month and I still don't have my mind made up on a few things but this is what it should look like. The goal is 9.7's with enough streetability to be driven around town when I feel like it.

2001 hardtop Z28
Stock cubes, solid roller, Incon TT, Absolute Speed or TEA heads. Haven't decided on aluminum or iron block, but leaning towards aluminum. About 9.1 C/R
Single front mount intercooler
TH400 trans with brake and 3xxx stall.
FAST system
12- bolt with 3.42s or there about.
Full BMR & Hals
Removing Air cond, heat, anti-lock brakes, and all the other BS I don't need.
That's the basics but there are a ton more little details.

Any suggestions ?

Sounds good, but I think you could reach your goal no problem with a hydraulic roller.

Would have to agree. No need for a solid roller. I'm looking to hit 9.60-9.70 this year also with the CE. Only thing I'm changing is building a shortblock, adding some fuel, and more boost. Well, plus the spool and a bigger tire.

So how you liking it in Florida? I'm sure your hating it.

I'd consider Iron, lower compression, TEA's Judson Heads, better than standard ARP studs ($400?), maybe o-rings, and look at Gen VII.
Just thought I'd toss in my bit of confusion for ya.

i have a ? for any ya that can help me i am new in here but i have been looking about puting a turbo in my 95 grand am am i able to do that how would i go about it what would you recamend for a turbo for it and am i abel to put a cold air intake in it or not ?

Solid roller = ability to go faster in the future if I want to get REALLY serious.
What should my weight goals be ?

That all sounds good, computer could be an issue for you if boost gets to high.
Im looking to do the same, but on a budget build.
and more boost, and all my options still in the car!
CE, you will like the spool! and I here you on the bigger tire thing!! Im tired of 1.6 and 1.5 60's! I want 1.4's and 1.3's!!
1.3 with another 100 horse and 200 lbs lighter Im goin 9's!

On a good track I can cut 1.4's-.5's all day launching at 5lbs. Any more and it blows the tires off. I want to launch at 10lbs and get some low 1.3's.

Detroit, I'm at 3500 race weight. If you can get a couple 100lbs lower than that. With the setup your talking about. You got 9.6's-.7's in the bag.

I leave under no BOOST, i just rev it and dump it, My 2 step never came back in time to try it. But i blow the tires leaving in a vac, Hope the rear halls hel, then i'll try some drags rather then QTP.
weight does a lot in racing, more then alot of people think, lighter is better!!!
