Default FI Worth It??

I plan on getting the D1SC within the next few weeks and i wanted to know for those with FI is it all worth it in the end??? I only plan on 8lbs of boost so belt slipping shouldn't be a problem...It going to cost around 6 grand to do everything right and just wanted to know if you had the choose would you do it over????? Thanks Brandon

I think you have to look at your end goal. Keeping in mind that power is addictive. I don't think i would put an aggressive FI setup on a car i relied on. For a project/track/fun/weekend car it's a kickass jump start to serious power. It teaches you a lot about the limitations of our cars. If you like to tinker, if you like attention, if you like intimidation, then you can't beat an FI setup. If money is a problem don't go this route.

Some people have more troubles than others. 8lbs. on a bad tune can destroy an engine. So be careful. FI isn't the cheapest route, but for on tap power, it's untouchable.

Hell yeah its worth it, and if you build it right the first time you can make a lot of power and still have a reliable car. In the summertime I drive my mustang to work every day, and every time I pull onto the freeway, roll into the throttle and listen to the turbos spool and the tires scream for traction, it puts a damned big grin on my face I'd go crazy at work if I didn't get that 45 minutes of enjoyment in every morning.

How much power do you want - 400-450rwhp? I would stay NA. 450-500 - NA, stroker. If you want more than that I would go FI.

If you are concerned about dyno #'s, the strokers are about to make a big jump. Some FI cars make insane power, but it does not always show up on the strip. If for some reason you need over 550rwhp, then spray it. Either setup is cool, it is just an endless debate.

I really just want a fast streetable car...I would like around 480 at the wheels and be able to run 11's...I have hooker long tubes w/ ORP and flowmaster catback...I hope to have around the 480 mark...I'm going to have speed inc tune my car and i have only heard good things about them....I really don't want to do heads/cam cause i still want it very streetable and i have always love the feel and sound of a blower...I just think FI is really over price and just hope i'm not just wasting my $$$

If you want 480rwhp do a stroker without a question. You can attain that mark easily with a nice streetable package.

one consideration that swayed me to FI was emissions.

With an NA car, i'd have to have too big of a cam to make the same power as i will FI, and that won't fly with the emissions clowns.
