cam choice for procharged 408

Default cam choice for procharged 408

im going with a texas speed 408 with 317 heads and a d1sc. i like the epp forced induction cam but is there anything that would give me that choppines but bigger that will work well with boost? i saw a video on youtube of a ss with a 408 and f1 and it sounded nasty wish i can get those specs.

The EPP cam is pretty choppy lol. Other then that, and since this is a 408 and wouldn't want to cheap out, I would get a custom grind cam that is suited for your setup.

I am thinking about adding 1.85 roller rocker arms for more lift

I'm going w/ the G5X3 (114) on my 408 w/ the the F1c ... Haven't been able to drive the car w/ boost yet, but I believe it will work just fine! I will let you know how she acts once I've had the seat time.

The EPP cam is a 232/240 115 which produces 6° of overlap. It will have some chop in a 408ci, but you can definetely go bigger. When you increase the overlap you will get more lope and shake and have a nastier idle. You will also make more power, but driveabilty will suffer and you may loose some power in the lower rpms...its always a compromise.
If its a racecar then no one will care as long as it performs and delivers on the track. However, a street car requires different parameters and streetabilty is somewhat subject from person to person. For a street application that will be driven I would recommend a 236/248 .606/.615 114+3 combined with a speed density tune for good manners. This cam will produce 14° of overlap and give the desired idle and also make more power over the EPP cam!

I just got my 347 running with the comp LSR centrifcal blower cam that is 235/251 .621/.624 on a 115 nice and choppy pulls nice on the street need to finish street tunning before it sees the dyno and the .

I was told by comp that the EPP blower cam is old technology and this cam will blow that out of the water.

Yeah I liked it a lot the cam I am running now is not that different it drove really well it made great numbers as well, just trying something a little different as I did when I had the 346 with the F1R on there etc... I"ll PM you.
