Default Really thinking about a procharger

(Check sig for current mods)

I've been throwing the idea around a lot lately and was curious if the experts can tell me. Im not looking to do wheel stands or anything and its pretty much a summer only daily driver with no track time. With that in mind will a DSC1 work for me considering my added displacement? What else will I need to upgrade besides my fuel system? Cam (recommendations please), stall, gears?? I'm currently rocking a 10 bolt with a 12 bolt on the horizon. Any help appreciated and THANKS!!!

Also, I read that for auto's the gears need to be 4.10's. Is there any reason for that on street car? Im also looking at a new stall in the 3600 area.

i see u have a stroker kit, forged rods and pistons? no need for your gears to be 4.10's ,3.70-3.73ish would be good considering no track time for u.stock trans?u can probably get away without changing the camshaft , a lot of people use the forced induction cam from Bob @ EPP

Also keep your comp in mind, where are you sitting at now? What pistons are you running? The D1SC will be fine on a 383 stroker as well. You might also consider a meth kit since you mentioned it being a summer daily driver.

I say do it! It will definitely be alot of fun. Im pretty sure you prolly have forged internals with that 383. If so, do you know what your comp. is? I say get a EPP blower cam and a fuel system and slap the blower on (depending on your comp. ratio).

I love my procharger but I would ask what is your CR right now with the 383. I see no need for anything more that a 3.73 gear with your auto. A cam change might be in order depending what is in your car now.

I think my AFR 205's put CR at about 11.47/1

Man...the biggest hurdle is going to be convincing the wife (or hiding it ^^)

11.5:1 is a bit high for a boosted motor. Would probably be a good idea to change the pistons. Aside from that D1's work just fine on a 383.

Sell the AFR's and get a 72cc head. It'll lower comp to the high 10's. Your gonna have to run meth as well. If its not to big of a problem like aster said drop the comp with dished pistons then you can keep your good flowing heads.

Unless your AFR's have been milled a lot, I would keep them. Flow great, thicker deck, the advantages are all to AFR for boost over a stock casting. A dished 2618 alloy piston would be a better investment than 317 heads.

your gonna need bigger injectors, and your gonna have to find a way to lower compression or run low boost.
