Maintenance and Longevity of QMP, or similar Turboed Car..
What special or unique maintenance is there on a Turboed Car?
What are some users experience with the QMP Turbo kit? Good, bad, ugly please? And anyone install themself?
Thanks,
Charlie.

Well, first off we no longer sell our kit unless we do the install and tuning. There are multiple reasons for this, but I won't go into them here. Basically, for the same reason LPE has never offered "Do It Yourself Kits".
Regarding maintenance, they do require some upkeep. More frequent oil changes, spark plug changes, clutch changes, etc. Things like a fuel pump going bad can be much more detrimental to a FI engine than a NA engine. So it therefore requires more monitoring of things such as AF ratio, exhaust gas temps, etc.
Weather can also play a role in longevity with FI setups. When using a stock PCM, it has very little in the way of "Failsafes". Meaning it can only compensate so much for weather changes. This is why we tune all of our cars to an "overly safe" AF ratio. Just to be safe.
Turbos, when done correctly, give you the best of both worlds. True streetability and massive power.
Hope that helps.

With your kit installed, how much is "hidden" or more difficult to get to. I have seen the Vortech SC kit, and there is no way in hell I want to remove that much to change plugs! Where is the air filter located at? Hopefully not to low, my friend just Hydrolocked his ATI SC car, bad rains here.
Thanks Rob.

Plugs are actually easier to change after installing the turbo kit. The air filter relocates to just behind the parking light on the driver's side. I've been driving the Formula nearly everyday now for the last 6-8 weeks. Through rain and snow on the Interstates. No issues whatsoever.

Thanks Rob.
Now, can you please pm a price for similar forged bottom 348, qmp turbo, smc alky kit, injectors etc.. installed with tuning? I already have one Wlabro340m, and an access panel cut in the rear well area for easy access, this should save a dollar or two. You can feel free to give me any and all discounts for a Army Veteran that will have to Ship his car via boat from the island
