APS TT not reaching set boost.....??
Hey guys,
I have an APS TT kit on my 2002 corvette and am running a Eboost2 boost controller with one solenoid and its hooked up via "Method 1" per the instructions. It seems that no matter what setting I program the high boost too (SP 6), It won't reach over 11.x psi.....However, on cold nights, I've seen it reach in the 13's and settle in the high 12's. I first had a Greddy Profec boost controller and it did the same thing. I thought it was a controller problem so I switched.
I've done a boost leak check and fixed about 6 leaks, then tested again and the boost held on my Eboost2 up to 28 psi.
I will say that my solenoid it mounted in my engine compartment near the front of the passanger side cylinder head, which is relatively far from the wastegates. This is the same mounting location that I had the Greddy solenoid mounted when it was tuned at 14 psi. I haven't seen 14 psi since I've had the car back.
Do you guys think I should continue to turn up the Boost controller? or maybe its a wastegate spring issue? or maybe more leaks that I've over-looked?
Im just kind of unsure on what to do next and would like to go to a speed density tune next month and want everything to go smoothly.
If I've left out any details or y'all would like to know what settings I have my Eboost2 set to, Ill post it up.

What springs are in there..7.5PSI? Usually you can get about double spring. You could take lines off to gates for test then use gas pedal and watch boost and see what you get with the gates not opening. If you get your target then likely its not boost leak or turbo problems and you said it did it with two different boost controllers. How much boost are you trying to get..You could also try method two it says it can give you higher boost.
I was hoping to keep my 7.5 and push to maybe 18 to 20psi with my eboost but have not tried it yet. I will shortly with new LG turbo upgrades. If can't get where need to be then possibly will go up and would think a 10psi should let me hit 20psi.
It seems to work this way on my talon with tial gate. I could get around 20psi max with 10psi spring. Then put in 20psi spring so could hit 30 to 40.
Springs are pretty cheap and should be easy enough to try. Main reason I wanted to stay with 7.5 is want to ramp in boost by gear, rpm or time. Most likley gear on street and time on track. So not going to do me much good if go too high on boost and power and have no traction. I wish could run 5psi springs and still get to 20psi but don' think thats going to happen.
So try springs or try no lines to gates. Just be careful if you do this.

ah APS bs for someone else LOL. i had the same thing happening. no matter what i did the car all ways made 12psi. turns out that the tial 38s like to stick even when they are brand new. take them apart and put high-temp coper anti seize on the stems and see what it does. you might have one stuck open. Luis at LGM told me about this. hes had a few like this. it might work for you

I have another thread started that states that my eboost2 solenoid is hooked up to a boost AND vacuum source but method 1 says only hook it to a boost source with no vacuum. I was going to drill and tap a fitting into one of the charge pipes this weekend for a boost only source. Do you guys think this may be an issue?
you went with synapse wastegates or synapse turbo kit?
The kit has actually been good to me. I have few few complaints other than not reaching target boost. I've never taken a wastegate apart, what exactly do I put the hi temp copper anti seize on?

so if I pull the Tial wastegates, it will be obvious as to what I need to put the anti-seize on?

Run tials on my 99 TT no problems so far. And on my 97 talon .Also no problem. But Tom might have good advice.. just needs to clarify where exactly to put that stuff . I assume the piston part.

I got one wastegate off this afternoon but had to cut it short on the other one until tomorrow. Here are a few pictures of the one I got off and it shows a great deal of carbon build up. I picked up some high temp (875*C) anti seize so Ill take it apart late tonight and see what she does.
On a side note, I also relocated my Eboost2 "Boost Only" source to in front of the TB as opposed to the brake booster line because the solenoid isnt supposed to see vacuum. I was under the impression that anywhere in the charge pipes before the TB is a boost only source, correct?

yes your right. my eboost is hook up before the TB.
i have 5lb springs in my car and it would hit 12psi running of the WG alone. it would boost creep really that high. but those WG look dirty. you can see how much they more by looking at the valve stem

That makes me feel more comfortable that you have your Eboost2 before the TB.
I took both wastegates completely apart this morning. The valve stems were really dirty. I cleaned out the housings with some B12 and did a 3 step sanding process on the stems to smooth them out. Then I put a light coat of High Temp Anti-Seize on the entire valve stem. Just about done, and should have some results to report back tonight : )

Well.........
I drove it just a few minutes ago and now it reaches ONLY 9.5 psi will all the same settings as before. I even turned the SP value up 10 points (to 70) and no change. Im not really sure what the issues are now?
