Default TT Z06 Build Thread

since the cat is out of the bag now, might as well post these. Here is what we went through
The day this came out:

we actually did this

We pulled the motor and sent it off to LME to be forged:

the original plan was to be a simple forged LS7 and a simple blower kit, but after some peer pressure from others :smiley2: it ended up a full built motor, twin turbo kit monster of a build.

We apart the torque tube to inspect the couplers, everything looked ok so it went back on stock for now, we had metal couplers in hand but since the rear end and trans remain stock, I figured some dampening would help keep the rear and tranny happy for a little while.

We added bracing to the rear/trans to keep the rear end from splitting in half, which is known to hapen in C6s...

motor came back from LME very quickly, they installed a callies forged crank and rods, wisco pistons, converted the ls7 heads to 6 bolt per cylinder and bolted everything up to a GMPP LSX iron block. Displacement 427.

to hold up to the power we anticipate producing, we chose a spec twin disc clutch, rated to 1500 tq.

to feed the beast, we picked up a Dallas Performance fuel system, thanks Taylor! We had to remove the fuel tank and sump it to feed the single large magnafuel pump.

the fuel system uses fuel lab components, very nice parts.

built some brackets and installed the pump into the rear cradle:

the turbos were picked to acheve the project goal hp and maintain minimum lag possible. Turbonetics TC67 turbos with ball bearings. The Wastegates chosen were TIAL 44mm and blow off valves are TIAL 50mm valves.

To control the power which will be traction limited, we installed a EBOOST 2 boost controller with boost by bear switches installed into the shifter mechanism:

The intercooler is a custom unit designed by us and built by BELL Intercoolers to our drawings. I wasn't happy with the other C6 intercoolers available in the aftermarket so we came up with a better design with bigger core.

then it was time to fabricate all of the custom hot and cold side piping:

I think this car is one of a kind
some high temp coating to prevent rust and help contain heat

we also wrapped the hotside to help manage the heat in specific areas:

The final installation:

I am really happy with how it turned out. We had a huge delay in the original oiling system plans, the car has been completed for quite some time, but we were wating for a vendor to fabricate a custom dry symp oil tank for months and after enough weaiting we made the executive decision to convert the motor to a wet sump system and delete the tank. I wanted to do this anyway, as it cleaned up the engine bay a lot and simplified things.

Rides?

Wish I could have helped more than just a couple times.

EDIT:
Viper looks angry in this pic that it is getting ignored on the TT setup...

not sure when it will be at the track, it is mostly a street car

might take it to some 60-130s.

Keeping the T/A I assume? Gives you an excuse to really put that TH400 to work at the track!
