Default Head gaskets for boost and 4.030 bore?

I know about Cometics, but would prefer to use something softer with an o-ring setup. What's available?

If your heads have the embedded o-ring, like TEA offers on their heads, then your only option is graphite. Fel-pro should have what you need.

Thanks! I was not aware the 6.0 had a graphite gasket. We will get either the heads or block o-ringed.

My stock gaskets are MLS type. When I changed out my heads to TEA heads, I had to change the gasket material. TEA o-ringed heads have a .041" stainless wire embedded into the head around the combustion chamber. This why you need the graphite gasket. The wire will not press into a MLS type and seal properly.

FelPro has the graphite style gaskets for both 3.905 bire and the larger 6.0L bore:

3.905 bore (graphite) - 9284PT
up to 4.040 bore (graphite) - 9199PT
big bore (MLS) up to 4.100 I am told - 1041

LS1 gaskets are not o-ringed. You have to have the o-ring embedded into the head itself. It then seals with t he graphite gasket when compressed onto the block. No receiver grooves are needed on the block side.

Brian Tooley at TEA (sponsor) can take care of the o-rings for you. Give them a call! Tell him I sent you

Graphite gaskets and o-rings don't do much for you. Copper gaskets are meant to be used with o-rings, NOT graphite. SCE and Flatout Gaskets both make LS1 copper head gaskets in the bore size that you need. To do it right, the block gets o-ringed. The wire is used on the block, then the heads have a receiver groove machined in so that the copper gasket will compress up into the head, further sealing the cylinder. IMO, you are asking for trouble using a graphite gaket and o-ring.

You risk tearing the graphite when the heads are put on. Then guess what.

Rob Raymer has tested this setup to 25psi with no issues. How would I get teh copper gaskets and what is the price. I can o-ring the block since I am starting with a fresh block. I agree this is the way to go.

Not sure on the price of those brands. I am running a Clarke copper gasket. It runs about $150 a set..Is Raymer using graphite gaskets on top of wire?

Todd, what do you have in the works now that you have sold the formula?

Nothin in the works. I am building engines for friends and some others here and there. This setup will be a 408 with D1SC and a cog setup. Just want to make 15psi without issues and do it right the first time. I will likely o-ring the block, but am undecided on gaskets. May try for some copper ones.
