In the 600+ range, the SX400 turbos are not a bad deal, you can get them new with T4 housings for cheap enough.
just use two

Most holsets you will have to pull apart and measure the wheels. The frame sizes tell you very little. Holsets in a HX52 can come from 54mm up to 71mm. HUGE difference.

I measured it, and it has 62mm wheel on the comp, and 66mm on the exht. It came off a big truck, and has a huge exh housing!

Holsets are fantastic for the money, rebuild kits are dirt cheap, and they're very tough turbo's.

Not to mention more efficient wheels than Garrets. 62 yr old company that nets 14+ Billion a year. It's a matter of budget and extensive research, just better funded than any other turbo company. The 52/55/60's work well. Really well. And since you can find these locally in any major city on the planet used for cheap, why the hell not. I'm going with twin hx35's.

Spool before 3k rpm when selected correctly and great power where you want it. I think the reason why they're not popular with the LS motors is the jap import guys use em...I don't want much in common with them either

That's the thing about holset, They aren't an aftermarket company, so they don't advertise what each turbo's efficiency range is. Lot's of research is involved before trying "to see what it does". Accurate compressor maps are harder to come by since most of them are produced by a third entity. Like the Dr ordered, measure the wheels before you test it out.

Anything above the Hx50 I believe came on a some sort of heavy diesel. The good news is, is that the wheel designs are are so efficient, if you go slightly big, you'll pay only a small price in response. These are awesome turbos!

i will post pics but a local guy in my neighborhood has a 1991 AWD Talon with a Holset turbo with VGT. VGT starts building boost at around 2900 and makes 44 lbs on his 2.4 4G63T motor. he only paid 180 bucks for it and got it rebuilt/coated for another 100. best turbo for the money other than Master Power

There's plenty of reasons the largest transportation companies on the planet use them...To start they're more efficient than any other out there.

The HX40 has more output and spools quicker than a Garret GT3076r...with journal bearings. If you'd like the map, i've got one.

But of course, there are better blowers, but you won't find one for under $1200-$1500.

The LS community will join the Holset bandwagon sooner or later.

at aprox 3700lbs you need 700hp for low 10s. dont go over kill on the turbo. no way in hell you need a s400 series. s380 is T4 based and all you need. talk to forced inductions. deal with him. i have a T4 based turbo, so does 98cobrakiller. we both make more power then you will ever want.

just wondering if those holset turbos are so great why our vendors do not sell them. Or i miss something here? They can do holset hybrids to match lsx, show the results and have good profit...People even can save on expensive external wastegates.
