Best Turbo for the money??
Hi all, Im at the point where im going to need to get a turbo. I don't want to pay alot for this budget build. Here's what im hoping to get out of the car. Low to mid 10s. I have a LQ4 stock, planning on doing the ZO6 cam& spring swap, and a meth kit. 3.08 gear, TH350. Used will be good if it's in good shape!

i used a Master Power T76 with a .96 AR turbine housing and it was a great turbo for the money. now i have a TC76 and WOW what a difference. of course the TC76 cost twice as much and is packaged smaller. you can pick up a used turbo for cheap if you look hard enough. i wouldnt recommend the S400 though as it weighs 50+ lbs and will need to be braced. that thing is a monster

From budget to Premium we got it.
MP or BW depending on the car
MP is the best bang for the buck if you are staying below 700hp
Above that BW is the best bang for the buck
Call me and I'll discuss it with you further.
thanks

The BorgWarner is definetly great power for the money. There are a ton of cars (mostly mustangs) going 8's on those for under $1000 bucks new. The problem, as already mentioned, is that it's a huge turbo. Very difficult to package in the front of an fbody.

as i have said before, the cheapest turbo you can get away with is master power units.
but if you can not afford one, look for a used holset turbo to suit your needs.

thats the difference< if you can afford a $7000 motor whats 700 more for a turbo, Im not spending more for a turbo than I spent on my junkyard engine. And I have yet to find a failure on one of these units.

There are not many holset turbos I would run on a LSx motor. The best bets are really too big frame wise to be useful. A good 600whp turbo would be a HX52, as it is a pretty good frame size but the exhaust housing is a bit small (great for street response though, it spools like a T3 honda turbo).
In the 600+ range, the SX400 turbos are not a bad deal, you can get them new with T4 housings for cheap enough.
