Yeah meant to mention the cowl, which as you pointed out is the biggest issue in these cars with a sheetmetal intake. From what I have seen the Marcella looks like the best way to go for me. I was almost 100% sold on the wilson, but am having some doubts about it now. I can afford the Marcella or Wilson, so it just comes down to which is going to perform better with my setup.

It's interesting that no one publishes their intake dimensions of specifications. Intake runner length, taper degree or plenum volume although I can honestly say that dealing with John Beck is a real pleasure. give him as much information related to your build and goals and he will build you a perfect match. I can attest to that from firsthand experience.

And the only way to say an intake is optimum for any setup, would be to build and dyno multiple intakes.
Not exactly a cheap option for anyone. So I'd say all designs are built to fit within the space provided.
Although generally speaking if you can maintain long runners without affecting flow, all the better. Likewise maintaining adequate plenum volume.
But space will always compromise these things.

All the mentioned intakes have done the deed. Some better or worse than others. The Brass Tax is the each engine builder has the intakes they like and push, that they have used with good results, ect, ect.... They all have their place in the market. You just gotta look at what you are building and what fits with in your means, then make your decision.

We have data from multiple engines with the Marcella intake and its proven to work. Sure there are other brands out there but does anyone have unbiased data available for the public?

There is little boubt the OE intakes have a lot od design and testing behind them, and they do work superbly. For the money, little beats them ( mostly since they are free on the engine they come with )

OK. I didn't know Phil had EGT probes. This might be a really basic question but how do EGT's correlate to flow in CFM? or, are we just looking at the variance between the individual runners?

Hard to argue with those numbers. A 2.5% spread is awesome. Thanks for the data Phil!

They are still composite and there is the fear that higher boost(lets say 25psi or so) they may flex or crack. The sheetmetal intakes open up almost endless options. They are taylored to you setup. I'm pretty much sold on the Marcella. I don't want to drop a $1,000 on a FAST 102 only to have issues.

True but it provides an airfoil to increase airflow velocity. I have been thinking of having John fab another top for it with a carb style flange for a 4500 style TB on the top. I think that will even up the airflow a bit.
