Default Question about bottom end.

If I'm wanting to run some moderate boost (12-16 psi or so) (whatever it takes to get 500 + rwhp will i need to get the entire bottom end forged or will a forged crank suffice???

If not any links to where I can get a forged rotating assembly??
Thanks

I'm making 900 flywheel hp with a stock crank, Eagle rods, and Diamond forged pistons.

You should hit 500rwhp with 7-9 psi.

Will I need to redo the bottom end with that boost?? I was looking at a h/c package but turbo does sound interesting.

500+ on a stock bottom end is pretty easy.

As long as the tune is reasonible and the fuel system is up to it, i wouldn't bother going into the motor.

FWIW, i'm over 800 RWHP on a stock crank.

Crower Rods, JE pistons

there are a few people who went over 600rwhp on a stock bottom end.
just make sure your fuel system, tune and octane requirements are there.
if you want it more pump gas friendly you will have to lower the CR, which you dont nessaraly have to do the bettom end to get it.

Hmmm i've always seen on other sites that anything more than 6-7 psi and my bottom end is on borrowed time??

Just my opinion, but 600hp on the stock pistons (with pump gas) is borrowed time. 500 will last for quite a while, but can be done with 7psi.

Well, 6-7 psi isn't even 500RWHP on a stock motor. From my personal experience, they are alot stronger than most think. I couldn't believe how good things looked when i tore into my stock motor, 34k miles on the motor and nearly 24k with boost. Hard miles, daily driven, etc etc. And that was pushing 550RWHP most of the time.

slip up on the tune or fuel, and any motor forged or not, will let you know you goofed

See the for sale section for my shortblock...just what you need for increased boost. it was built for 700ish on a stock hardened crank. The carrillo rods and carr bolts are the best incase there ever was a lil crank flex. All prepped, balanced, and ready.
