Considering a blower ATI vs Vortech?
I got greedy with boost, and still have not got the belts to grab, I ditched the 8 rib setup for a COG setup now, waiting for this in the mail and hopefully it works.......
I guess ATI is working on an 8 rib setup for their standard kits........
I have one of each on completely stock internal motors. Both work fine with no problems on moderate boost (8 psi on the ATI kit, 9 psi on the Vortech). I'd have to concede that the ATI twin intercooler set up is much more thermally efficient than Vortech's aftercooler deal. However, both produced similar power.
Key is getting a good tune. If you want the car to be relatively hassle-free and nearly as low maintenance as a stock car, then don't monkey with the boost. I don't want to say that any of my cars are "fast enough" because we all know there is no such thing.
However, both of them are pretty quick and bring a smile to my face everytime they go into boost. One primary, one backup, and.... ???
Seems like the ATI kit is a bit more liked at the beginning because it's easier to install.
But it seems like the ATI kits have more problems when you try to push them to say 12psi. The problem is not the head unit but the tensioner and the brackets.

Longer answer: The '99 is my daily driver and perhaps a road race car if I find the time. I bought the '01 SS as a perfect weather cruiser and show car. Then the '02 came along, already built to the hilt, and for a steal... so I couldn't resist. The SS is not ready for the track, nowhere near, but the '02 with the ATI has everything: suspension, 12-bolt, clutch, etc. So, I figured here's a killer blower car that's complete. I can run it at the track and show it if I want to. The LT1 car ('94) is my bracket racer with a built 4L60E. So, as you can see, each has a different role.

Yes he is insane
But it's fun to watch his car up the track. Whens the LT1 going to put the smack down Todd???
