Default 3 inch exhaust restrictions

i am planning on merging my two 3 inch downpipes to a single 3 inch pipe over the axle. i really did not want to do that. but my car is lowered and i do not have allot of room under there.

so at what point the 3 inch pipe will be causing me serious back pressure ?

or has anyone done 4 inch pipe over the axle ? if so haw hard was it ?

How about doing some oval piping over the axle? They make 2.5"-5" oval pipe.

The area inside a 3" pipe is 7.065 square inches. So to merge it together you would need a pipe that has double that to not affect backpressure. A 4" pipe has an area of 12.56 square inches. So backpressure would increase a little. I think dropping to a single 3" would really hurt you.

Mufflex makes a 4" catbakc(I have one). Or just run the 3" and put a cutout close to the merge, or dual cutouts right off the turbos lol

It's not as simple as just calculating cross sectional area. Frictional losses also play a large roll. Depending on the length of the run it might not hurt you as much as you think.

I bought mine used off here for $250. I think they're like$5-600 new. I don't have a link, you should be able to google mufflex and it come up.
