Default 11:1 LT1+turbo?

Hey everyone, I have some questions. Currently I was going to spray the car, I have a Nitrous Outlet plate that I've been dragging *** on installing. I do like the idea of a turbo though. Granted the only turbo car I have driven was a friends Civic years ago, but damn that little thing was fun.

So how much boost could I run on an 11:1 LT1? Car has a hotcam and currently puts down 356hp/362tq. I was shooting for 500rwhp on the spray, can I attain this number with whatever my limit will be for boost? I'd probably have to run meth injection? I've always wanted to do forced induction on something, and well someone is trying to talk me into it for the car instead of the nitrous. Motor also has forged rods and pistons, factory crank, 4 bolt mains.
Thanks! -Corey

I would recomend 5lbs with meth. There is a few things that you could do to help out. Run thicker head gaskets, head studs and e85. It might not be a bad idea to look into megasquirt either.

Unfortunately I have never seen e85 anywhere in FL. Its def. not a readily available fuel. Wish it were.

That's my set up!

11:1 compression ratio / LT4 Hotcam kit / an STS kit pushing 11 lbs of boost, and a boatload of Meth (via a Snow system) to keep it from blowing up!

Too much fun!

Man you are playing with danger. Hope nothing ever goes out on you with that boost. How does the cam with with the turbo set up. Cam is all wrong for the turbo to really work good.

great421, what is it putting down? I'd be completely happy to just make what I was planning on making with the nitrous, 500rwhp. Are you running the LT1 PCM?

Yep - according to a number of people here the Hotcam isn't good for anything; but it was the one I had in the car prior to the STS install, so it stayed in. Maybe when I stroke the motor I'll put in a turbo-specific cam.

Yes; it's been reprogramed, but it is indeed a stock LT1 PCM.

No issues either.

forged pistons?? if so get down with ya bad self. I wouldn't be scared.

But why change setups when you have everything there to make that power now... FI can get real expensive...

Untill your WOT and you run outta meth or it malfunctions bc ive seen pumps die many times.

I know a guy that did exactly what u did 11:1 on meth, then the meth messed up somehow.......lets just say there was a motor build after.

I would say tune it for whatever gas is available to you, and dont go over 7-8psi

I've got a safety feature with respect to my Meth system; I wired a mid 80's Cadillac's windshield wiper cap-mounted tank level switch into my trunk mounted 2 gallon Meth tank, and then ran that ground signal to my I/P's "Low Coolant" lamp, so when I drop below one gallon of Meth, my "Low Coolant" warning lamp turns ON. I guess the pump could fail, but (so far) I've put 45K miles on my engine post-STS install. Besides lifting the Pass side head, and overstressing the T2Y head bolts, I've had no real issues except for unexpected rear tire wear.
