Default Getting hot with ac on

So when i drive my 99 trans am with procharged ls1 with the ac on sometimes the temps will rise above 210. The car did sit a lot it only has 19k on it. I did buy a 160 thermostat but have not installed it yet. Do you think the old thermostat could be sticking or could it be something else.

My buddy with an Evo started having an overheating issue, especially when running the AC. He found his head was lifting.

I'd add that 160 thermostat you have sitting there as see if it helps out. You may end up having to add a smaller 2nd fan to the back of the radiator though. Bob

LOL, 210 is f'n cold and nothing to worry about. With my a/c off my car run 225 in summer, a/c on it's 240+ and then I turn the a/c off.

My z06 with a/c on and 160 stat runs 240 on 115 degree day.

+1... I haven't added a 160 thermostat but had my fans tuned to come on a little earlier. I ordered all my stuff from Bob and this is what I had done to my fan setup. On a 110* day with my a/c on my car gets up to about 220* but slowly continues to rise the longer I sit in traffic. Once we get moving it drops down to 210* and stays slightly below 210* while driving at about 70mph on the freeway.

My car at the first of summer started getting hotter around 130 with the ac on and a member on here suggested a a different spal fan and I put a Lt1 radiator in her and thined the coolant mix to 1/9 water/antifreeze and solved my problems

You would be suprised to find what finds it's way into the condensor, see if you can look between the radiator and condensor, since the fans pull air through the, ic, radiator, then condensor. It's a cheap and easy check that could help, also do you know when your fans are being comanded to come on, on mine if I have my second fen to come on above 210 it will never cool back down. Also look at not just temp but your ac pressure, not sure on lsx's but on lt's you can kick the fans on by ac pressure, since that's when your having problems.

You guys quoting temps, are you looking at the stock gage, log, or aftermarket gage?

The reason that I ask is because my log reads 230 when my stock 98 gage is at the 210 mark and 99-02 stock gage is just a fancy dummy light.

That's weird, 98's were the only year with a functioning temp gauge, 99+ got the dummy gauges. Both my 98's had working temp guages, but both my 2000's have the idiot gauge.

My temps are from logging.

Dang that's weird, I recently heard something about this but completely forgot about it. My temps are just from the stock gauge.

My stock 98 gauge is the same way. Reads noticeably cooler than what the pcm says.
