Looks right to me. I would go with the 265 psi tensile strength for most power adder applications.

Ok,but I thought LS1s used head bolts instead of studs. Are you saying that the stock head bolts are stronger than ARP studs?

There is more to to it than the listed tensile strength of the steels used.

Are they designed to eliminate stress risers?
What kind of steel are they made out of?
Are the threads rolled hot or cold?
What heat treat process is used?
Do they employ a metallurgist or experienced heat treater that is on floor?
Are the studs drawn more than one time? At what temperatures successively?
Have the studs been stress relieved?
How much time between removal from quench and initial temper?

Anyone know who makes the C5R studs for GM?.

I know the man that repaired and set-up the furnaces at ARP and instructed them in their use.He has over 25 years of experience in heat treating and building heat treating equipment and is one of the best in the world. I unquestionably would call the heat treating done in ARP's facility as good as it gets. I have seen testing that shows 94%+ austenite conversion in fasteners coming from them. This is indicative of a near perfect heat treatment and temper.Which is VERY uncommon.

Are they long?
Are they "thready"?
Were they made by midgets?
Did the shots really come from the grassy knoll?

Okay, I couldn't resist. Just joking. Those are all actually good questions.

Dave White was the source he was down to 3 sets when I last talked to him.

Perhaps someone like Chris @ AP could order up some if folks signed up, he knows where to get them made he gave Dave most of the info in the beginning.

You can also high quality studs and bolts from SPS technologies. They make a lot of bolts for ASA, F1, nascar, Aerospace. They make bolts in stainless, titanium, inconel, etc.

We don't buy a lot of off the shelf stuff so not sure on the pricing.

I agree SPS (as well as ALLEN) make top quality fasteners as well.

I am not ignoring the question on source, but the source only had two sets left and they were a custom run of 25 sets. I have asked Chris at AP to see if he would consider doing a run if folks wanted them. Chris is the one that got this custom run going last year.

I had a custom set of ARP L19 head studs last year. $7??.00, I don't remember exactly. ARP 2000 could be had at a great price as well. I currently have the 9/16 studs from ARE but they are overkill in my opinion. Chris can correct me if I am wrong but I also think the C5R studs require machining, they are a different thread pitch or something.
