I see where you are going with that, but it'd be more trouble than its worth....

You'd have to weld the hole shut for the air cleaner stud, find a piece of silicone hose to attach it, etc... It's 100% easier to just buy a new air filter/rubber elbow

I was thinking something like this

The inlet on my turbo is a little tight to the frame. Not alot of filter options for me. I'm going to have to duct in some air from in the fender or bumper cover.
It's hard to see but the frame rail is almost right up against the filter. Just enough room to slip it on.

Oh... A low profile filter, not a carb hat....

Now I see what you were saying... I still think the point about having to have a rubber cuppler stands. How are you going to attack that?

I also think something like that would be SERIOUSLY restrictive compared to what you have now.

Talked to the tech at precision today and he said the turbo seized due to back pressure. He said the LS2(364ci) engine was too big for the turbo and caused excessive back pressure...the turbo has a full 4" exhaust and I run between 5-7lbs normally with one 15psi run...he said this turbo was designed for engines from 331-347ci.....................................hmmmmmmm ...any input?

If you have more time on the warranty...I would run it again. Like I said earlier in the thread I have a rear mounted pte 88 on a c6 that has seen as much at 22 psi and made 900 rwhp, but gets driven about 5000 miles yearly at 17 psi which is about 750 rwhp. Turbo has been on the car for a few years.

That's good. Like was said before, I have heard of many people calling them and them saying that the PT88 was overkill for the 364ci. I had a friend that was building a 408 and I told him that it would be to small and to call them. They tried to sell him a 76gts and told him the 88mm was way too much. That was the opposite of what I expected to happen. I do agree that the T4 .96 a/r housing is too small for a decently equipped 364ci. I was all fired up to do the 91mm upgrade but I think that I will upgrade the hotside first.

I would be very skeptical of that answer.

A 5% increase in your engine size over what they designed the turbo for should not cause a turbo to sieze.

That is a pretty small margin of error - especially in the hot-rod world where every setup is very different.
