Is it because you miscalculated the costs, or is it because the project grew in scope (i.e. "well if I'm doing this, I might as well go ahead and upgrade this part too)?
Mine went from a "budget" front mount truck manifold setup on my stock LS1 to a 5.3L swap, not a "huge" change in the budget, but I figured "might as well".

ive added a few things along the way, 2 step, shorty headers, etc. but i also bought a bunch of high quality ****, IE brand new Tnetics 60-1, brand new JGS WG, griffin radiator, new FMIC, etc
Whatever your budget is just triple it. I know it sounds crazy but its the honest to god truth. Just plan on spending $1,500 in misc **** from the hardware store to the parts store

this is what I thought as soon as I read the OP's first 2 posts. you have a lot of research to do sir. unless you are a skilled fabricator, a turbo setup is going to cost you probably $10k. I wouldn't even look at a turbo kit (a turbo with most of what's needed) that cost less than $4k, just because there's too many things needed to be able to package it all that cheap. my .02
