Default 9.43 at 145 w/ 5.3 with a cam

Drove my rx7 to the track it's a junkyard 5.3 with just over 100,000 miles on it, gt2-3 cam, good springs/pushrods, ls9 gaskets and head studs. I'm running 13.5lbs in 1st and 2nd and 14.5lbs in 3rd(peaks a lb when I shift to 3rd gear, not sure why) on a TC78. I'm running a th400 with a ptc 3200 stall(too tight) and a 3.55 gear with a hoosier QTP.

I wasn't expecting a lot, just leaving on the footbrake not the transbrake, and haven't turned the boost up yet. I just wanted to see what the car would do on some easy passes. I had the fuel cell full of E85(27 gallon fuel cell) which should have put me right around 2600lbs.

Next time out I'll be up on 18-20lbs with more aggressive timing, fuel cell not full, and leaving on the transbrake to see what it will do. I went 144.7mph last year on only 11lbs at the same weight with my old coan nitrous converter, I think the new converter is hurting my mph with the 1300 to 1500rpm drops on the shift so might send it back to be loosened up.

Here is how the pass looked, will have a video up as soon as my buddy can get it to me.

1.40 60ft
6.05 1/8th
115.8 mph
9.43 1/4
145.1 mph

The stock heads that came on the motor, just have the upgraded valve springs is all, no porting or anything at all done to them.

I really want the stock ls shortblock record, I'm pretty sure this is the fastest stock shortblock 5.3. I'm hoping I can get the car to go an 8 later this fall in better weather and turned up plus leaving harder.

Not bad for a car that just got 22mpg coming back from a road trip, on E85 even!

Dont change the converter untill you put more power to it. It may be preety close with more power. That raceweight should make it easy on breaking records!

I'm going to put ATF back in it to loosen it up some, I think it will work OK, but not as good as it can be. Just needs a restall no biggie.

I did figure out I think another reason the mph is down, only made 560rwhp today on the dyno, turned it up to 18lbs and made another 120rwhp with the timing still conservative. I think it has another easy 50rwhp in it at 20lbs and more timing. So far not pushing any coolant either.

Hey, can I ask the shift point?
Also which upgraded springs did you go with?
Finally what is total timing at max boost, and how much are you pulling per psi or boost

Oh max boost we are at 13-14 degrees timing on E85, I'm running patriot gold valve springs. I don't pull per lb of boost, we set the timing different at different boost levels, we found last year that anything over 20 degrees didn't net much gain in power when doing some testing on lower boosts.

Cool. Thanks. I think ill do the patriots too. I'm surprised you didn't see a gain with more than 20psi boost.

Great numbers though.
