Default LQ9 370 with AFR 225 and Borg Warner s475

I am hoping I didnt make a mistake in picking up this borg warner s475 83mm 1.10 A/R

My TC78 had major shaft play and was burning oil like a ***** sweats in church. The turbo is part of a custom rearmount setup on my GTO. I did buy a quick spool valve from the suprastore so I am hoping that will make the s475 more streetable.

I also have a concern for the track. I have a built 4l80 with a fmvb, transbrake and 2-step. Just for grins I have a Nitrous Outlet plate on reserve. I want to make sure this car can get off the line hard but still have enough turbo not to run out of power at 5500rpm

Off of the juice on 15-18psi what can I expect from this turbo both RWHP and trap speeds in the 1/4??

The car never had the chance to be tuned with the turbonetics tc78 so I have no idea what to expect

What are the specs of the S475? A 1.10a/r on a T4 flange should be very streetable. I have a ST80 w/1.1a/r on a built 383 ls1 and it's a nice combo.

theres a vid on youtube of a camaro with this turbo making 800rwhp but dont know if its the 1.10 ar, or the bigger one.

You are in a whole new category with a T6 rearmount. It was recommended to me to use that exact turbo as a starting point by a couple different vendors. You don't want to go to big on the turbine wheel, but it shouldn't be to small. Even though its only a 1.10 housing, its also much bigger than a T4, so I don't think you are going to choke. Especially being rear mount. It it turns out you do need a larger turbine wheel, like the 87mm or 92mm, you can always just sent that one in for an upgrade. You stated you wanted 700rwhp. I don't think that's going to be an issue at all with that turbo. Having a stalled auto will make that turbo much more street friendly also. Hurry up and put it on already.

BTW, I'm jon6.0 on LS1gto.

lol hey Jon, I am obviously Daniel Linnett

The turbo should be here tomorrow and so should the vband clamp and exhaust flange. I will still have to order a coldside flange too. It will probably be this weekend to early next week before all is back together.

i've got the s475 with the 1.32 for my build. Im gonna use the quick spool valve as well which is what makes these turbos so awesome. You should have just as quick if not faster spool up as you would have with the the TC78 but also have the more upper end power when the valve opens than you would have seen with the TC78 because you wont have all that back pressure to choke up the motor. I think you made a step in the right direction. Plus these turbos are so in expensive and with the ETT wheels makes it a no brainer. Id love to see videos of this thing at the track once you get done

Oh trust me you will. I will post it up in this thread.

I think that with the transbrake, 2-step, quick spool, and 75 shot of nitrous will make her leave pretty darn hard I am thinking it will trap mid 130s and mid 10s depending on the 60' Depending on how much power she puts down we may run faster then that but until she runs the times I wont speculate or say "She WILL run 9s" This car is going to be a completly differnet car then my last GTO that went 10.21@135 with 1.45 60' in 2800DA on 200 shot of nitrous. Turbos just react so differently.

But I am excited to finally get the car going. The speed density tune will take a bit of time as well. I hope to make it to the track not this weekend but next because the following weekend I will be driving her to Las Vegas for GoatRun 2010 Yes I am going to drive 1500 miles in a highly modified street car......have a ton of fun in vegas......then drive 1500 home.

What are the specs of a S475 turbo? Borg Warner turbos confuse the crap out of me when it comes to part numbers.

He's got an s475 with a 75mm compressor and a 83mm turbine with a 1.1AR T6 turbine housing. It's also available in T4.

The other variations of that turbo are an 87mm and 92mm turbine wheel, T4 or T6. If your engine can spool it, they also have a 96mm turbine wheel that only has a 1.32AR T6 turbine housing.

Where the turbo is mounted, engine displacement, and rpm range are some factors that go into what size turbine wheel to use.

Well the turbo and the exhaust flange with vband will be here tomorrow. I did second day air on the exhaust flange. The Turbo was coming from Houston so it was a quick ship.

You can sell that turbo easily if you dont like it on craigslist for diesel's or on a diesel forum. Look at the Aurora 5000 you can get it in a T3 or a T4. It has a smaller exhaust housing and should spool up extremely quick and can make over 900hp

well with the quick spool valve it will spool plenty fast enough. It will help stay under control on the street. and the 2step and transbrake with nitrous will be more then enough to get the car moving at the track.
