opinions on what head gaskets to use with 0-ringed block
the car has a 6.0L iron block and is currently running an externally leaking set of SCE copper gaskets. I pull the heads to replace with a set of cometic MLS gaskets and see that the block has been o-ringed, but no receiver groove on the AFR heads. I have heard people o-ringing the heads with MLS gaskets and having good luck, but not so much the o-ringing the block with MLS gaskets.
What would be the best option BESIDES the SCE? will the cometics work well with the O-ring? It will be a higher boost engine, with 8-900 RWHP.
what about smashing down, or removing the o-rings in the block and running a LS7 cometic so the compressed ring on the gasket will be sealing in a different location?
My machinist suggested the best route to go would be to pull and disassemble the engine, smash down the o ring into the block, and deck the block to make it all flat again...then go with MLS gaskets.
Thanks for your suggestions.
