whats the point of a 5.3 if you are gonna use forged internals? thats why i love them. Rock em' and pop em'! I'm gonna use a 5.3 while I am building my 408 this winter

Please correct me if im wrong but from what i have read i have to use a 6.0 headgasket the 5.3 gasket will be in the combustion chamber of the head?

Well i searched and searched and searched from what i have seen gm # 12589227 is the right headgasket for me (# 33 on the list on page 1) i just now got done ordering them thanks!!!!

If you have a set of calipers can you actually measure the bore size of the 317 heads? My 243 heads which came off a 6.0 LS2 GTO measured 3.88" or so for the combustion chamber. Unless the 317 heads actually measure 4.0" or so you don't need 6.0 gaskets, but I could be wrong, and I apologize if I mislead you.

Hey no biggie!

After searching around a bunch the same part # kept coming up i actually posted a thread about it a month ago (i forgot) and was told the same part # again so that pretty much made up my mind hope they work!
