Well it wasn't the lifters. I pulled the spark plugs and 5/7 where ate up. Pulled the head and found this. The block is scarred, motor is toast.

I'm not sure I didn't find anything, I guess there was a nut or a washer that fell in the intake runner that I didn't know about. I must have missed it when I was checking them before I put the rockers back on.

Sorry to hear the bad news. I was swapping spark plugs on my old car, when I mistakenly dropped a small bolt down the cylinder. Luckily the girlfriend was standing next to me and said she saw something fall into the cylinder. She asked "is that bad" ummm hell yes its bad. I freaked, but I just turned the motor by hand and was able to get a magnet down the cylinder. Damn I was lucky. It was a fully forged motor.

It sucks but **** happens. Just got off the phone with LME for a new engine reusing the crank, rods, pump, lifters, timing chain off this motor. New motor will be o-ringed with trickflow heads.

Glad to hear you got a new motor in the works. Can I ask how much it set you back?

About $5300 using trickflow "turbo heads". Timing sucks because I just spent $8k on a zx-10 2 weeks ago.

just a word of advise for anyone building headers worrying about plug changes. when my buddy built my (turbo) headers, he took 4 plug sockets and 2" or 3" extensions on top of each socket and let the sockets/extensions sit on all the plugs and made sure he built the headers around those. my plugs couldn't get any easier to change
