For the people hating on the price, you must have never tried to compete in a heads up class before. I know people who will drop ~$40k for a sb just to run at the front of the class. You can't just look at a parts list and value the motor off of that, you have to think about the R&D that went into getting the parts to work perfect together.

more proof that ls1tech has 99% dreamers (nothing wrong with that) and 1% racers. this ranks right there with guys that want eagle rods and off the shelf pistons but hang a 106 in front of it on stock casting heads. it just doesnt work. you want to go fast and win rounds, its going to cost you a bunch for the R&D. if you dont understand why this stuff costs this much, then pay the entry card, go race in R/S or x275 and see how long your budget setup lasts.
this is legit and reasonable for the product you are getting. you will also get a wealth of knowledge of to help keep the candles lit and not buy pistons on a weekly basis lol

VA Speed, another very intresting engine. I would LOVE to know more about the engine, But i dont have the 22K to get one! lol Im sure there has been atone on R&D gone into the mill. Obviously if VA have found a NICE combo that looks to owrk very well they are not going to tell everyone every little detail.... come on guys you should all know and realise that by now.
Also sometimes you have to think out the box a little. Maybe the idea is to get the turbo to spool up quicker with the longer stroke. Or maybe make more torque at any given boost presure. Maybe the top end will hold together better with the lower RPM yet still make the power. Maybe the torque is the engine makes, coupled to longer gearing, gives faster times...... i guess only VA speed will know, and maybe the lucky customers.

guys im not hating on the price, it was more as a funny comment. I work part time for an engine builder and trust me, for a real race motor (which this is) 22k is a steal, weve built ASCS sprints for 50k+.
Honestly if any of yall said you paid less than 25k for your race car motors id be suprised

Well, lets look at the parts. Honestly, the price for a race ready, built LONGBLOCK is very reasonable.
I wonder how much someone could piece this motor together for?
Add to that machine work, balance, assembly by a well know engine builder, and there really is not much left.

Well if he told you everything that was in it for parts and what he did with it then he would have spent all his time researching for no reason and make it easy for anybody to throw one together and take the credit for it!!

This is a class I'm looking into for the future. Something about 275's and big power appeals to me. Maybe I'll sell the 402 and twin 76's and go into debt again
By then Virginia Speed will have an even better motor for this class. But there is no doubt they will build my next motor whatever it may be. 22k does not sound like alot for a race motor, especially one that would be sure to compete and win races!.....Think about it. If you win races you can make some of that money back. That's what buying a top notch engine will possibly get you.....

Sorry to dig up an old thread Miller, but I was just curious if you think this engine/turbo combo would still be competetive with the 4.80-90's, and maybe .70's soon enough, the x275 cars seem to running now. If I ever hit the lotto I'll send you the car, just call me when it's done.
