TR6s+pump gas+18degs of timing+700rwhp= a bad thing????
So as of late i have been reading about spark plugs on here. and from what i can tell i might be heading down a bad road.
i have a 364ci ls2 8.7 to 1 cr, i run 93oct,TFS 225 heads, tr6 plugs, i run 18degs of timing on 13psi. it went 9.96 at 140 with a lame 1.68 60 foot. the car is 3800lb so it has to be making some power
so what plugs should i run? and TFS heads need gasket seat from what i hear
a part number would be nice because im having a hard time finding what i want/need
is my timing to high for what im doing? i have not seen any knock on my scanner
i have hp tunners so if you have a tune that might help please send it
Thanks guys for the help

Something along those lines is what the thread is called its currently on the first page of the forced induction section
Would definitely be worth taking a look at...

There is no benefit to running a hotter plug than you need. You have a higher risk of detonation and ruining your engine. Run the coldest plug you can get away with. Do people not know how to check their own plugs these days? Put a new set of plugs in, do a WOT pull, instantly kill the car. Pull the plugs and see how far your ground strap is discolored. If the whole thing is discolored past the bend that connects to the threads you need less timing or a colder plug. If the strap is not changing color and you are fouling plugs you need a hotter plug or more timing. You are looking for the the ground strap to be discolored about to the bend or a little before.
Now obviously there is a lot more to reading a plug than this. This will get you close on your timing / heat range of plug. If you're going to do this you may as well do a plug chop (cut off the threads) and examine the porcelain for proper mixture. This can be kind of tricky though depending on the blend of the fuel unless you have experience. Grey aluminum specs on the porcelain are not good (detonation).

I have been running the ls2 at 9.0 CR 225 heads, tr6gaped at 25, 19 degs sunoco ultra94 for over a year and a half with great results,The little mouse perrs like a lion just check your plugs every couple of months or so.

i wouldnt be running a tr6 on that combo. imo its too hot. im only at 575 rwhp and 14.5 degrees timing and ive been thinking about switching from tr6's. obviously there is no magic number where you should switch but i would look into reading the plugs after some runs and see where you stand

I'd run TR8's and I'd have your pcm tune pull 5 degrees of timing when your IAT's hit a certain value, 170F? I had some interesting convo's with Kurt about this five years ago.

i see absolutely nothing wrong with your set up other than a meth kit.

Why are people so reluctant to run a colder plug. You guys make it sound like a plug swap on these cars is difficult or something. These aren't LT1's. Change the damn plug and see what happens. It's like 20 min worth of work, tops (unless you have custom tube manifolds which can get more complicated).

Tom, I did a little research for my F1 setup with meth as you know and spoke to Ryne and Mike for awhile. I ended up getting NGK BP7EFS's. Their supposed to be 2 ranges cooler IIRC. Run a cooler plug and add the meth back in there. You have the dam kit installed already dummy lol. Just throw a cooler set of plugs in there and re-tune her for the meth.

I ran tr6 plugs 93 pump and 17* timing 18 psi on meth at the 800 rwhp for years no issues. I dont trust pump gas anymore to much **** added to it. Meth would help your set up as well as a colder plug. I had a 1.5 gallon tank that would last me months. This time around Im running a tr8 and 20+ psi and meth on pump gas.

i could but it would be hard to do with my car do to the fact that the iats only move 10 to 15degs from staging to the end of the track. i have not yet seen the iats go much over 100degs and it a A2A innercooler

so ill keep the timing were its at. get the meth back up and running to a void any shitty pump gas that might come along.
For those that ask what do the plugs look like? they are a nice dark brown but id much rather have the safty of a cooler plug just to be safe and if they foul out no big deal, than i know were i stand
im going to push on the car next summer so colder plugs will be needed, going for low 9s

On turbo setups we run tr6 on a lot of street setups up to 800whp be it really depends on the setup. My personal car ran 9.0@156-158 on pump gas, tr6, 12-14psi, and I think 17 degrees. If u have meth deft run it. You won't go any slower with the 7s just might have to change them more often. But every car is different. Read the plugs they will tell you.
