Default who's running a budget 347 or 370 shortblock?

Just curious who all out there is running a nice little budget motor and how far ya have gone with it? My 347 is full of used parts from the oil pump, used stock crank, used rod bolts, rods, pistons, everything and still going strong plus sees several thousand miles of street action. I'm going to do a newer motor this winter most likely a 370 and keeping my 347 as a backup. Just seeing how far people have gone with one that's not outrageously expensive. Also your tips to keeping them alive.

I've got used forged Mahle 4cc pistons and used Scat H-beam rods. It's seen easily over 100 pulls on 15.5 lbs on the street which is right where it runs out of fuel on my nearly stock fuel system. The car is making about 790 on that tuneup. I think it will lose a bearing before something catastrophic happens. The bearings in the motor were thrown in while the oil pan was off and no clearances measured Trying to find out how far this little clunker will get me

My 370 has been in the car for over a year with no issues. Stock crank, scat rods, and wiseco pistons. Went 9.3@144 last year, bigger turbo is going on and shooting for a high 8 next year. Good gas and tune will keep it alive.

who assembled your bottom end down there? Did they do anything special? I'm not really concerned about a piston/rod failure i'm just worried about bearings lol

What do you guys consider budget?

Iron 370
STD factory crank
Mahle flat top pistons, custom dished, Gas ported
Compster rods(had to resize out of the box)
ARP studs
Hand ported 317's
All truck acc's including intake

9.6o's@143MPH all boost in a 4850LB 4x4 truck 2nd trip down the track.

I think at your power level now you'll be fine, but when you turn it up to ~24lbs trying to make 1000-1100rwhp you are going to create a new list of problems, that is a whole different category.

Solid Tech did it, I'm pretty certain TRMIN8R did that motor on the cheap and it's a monster.
