The solid advantage of a 5.3L is the cost for sure. I've seen plenty for under 1k on ebay. And those are the L33's with the "good" heads. 6.0L aluminum LS block would probably be a grip, the cheapest is what? The LS2? The 6.0L iron blocks would probably be cheaper than the aluminum counterparts but are they cheaper than the 5.3L aluminum blocks? And can you live with another 75-100lbs?

Ive seen 5.3's on ebay from LKQ for $299. with a warranty.

My 5.3 made 640whp bone stock shortblock from LKQ....ran for 3 years beat pretty hard before it finally spun a rod bearing. Even then the pistons and everything else looked brand new inside...lol.

You need to ask Hellbents on here. He has a 6.0 lq9 that is a stock longblock with just a cam and springs and he has over 18 psi on it and makes 825rwhp in a GTO. It has gone 9's

I never touched the shortblock. probably 100k miles on it from LKQ.
The only thing I did was put 317 heads on it. A different cam, springs, and pushrods.

Its been done several times. The weak spot was im guessing the soft factory bearings. I had a really shitty TCI streetfighter converter in it also so that probably ate quite a bit of power.

Nghisus obviously is talking out of his ***.

600+ has been done time and time again by those who are not afraid to push things a little.

Either way you are fine. 4.8, 5.3, 5.7, 6.0.... Pick your poison. They will all last. More cubes the less you will have to push it to make the numbers. Its physics

It was a moment of levity. I do believe you made that kind of power and many people have done it before. I just can't believe I would face such vitriolic criticism. I just meant you probably had to so some modification, can't believe people get so defensive over these LSx blocks, especially at me. I'm the first to defend/advertise the power potential of these engines. In hindsight I should have just said, "Really? That's pretty damned cool."

Anyway, not going to thread jack.
The question is why turbo 5.3 when there is a 6.0? I say if you're going to turbo it anyway they all have great power potential. Obviously, you guys and many others have made plenty of power limited only by your funds and imagination.
