Default BOV question?

I have my bov venting to atmosphere on my TTI kit. the problem i`m having is that under normal driving the bov stays open untill you go into boost then it closes. right now i just have a seperate air filter mounted on it. Can i just unhook the vacume line to it that way it stays closed untill the you let off the gas and the boost pressure will overcome the spring pressure and open it? Or do you think it will partialy open up under boost and cause me to bleed some boost off? Thanks in advance.

I don't understand what you are asking. If you dont run a vacuum line at all to the BOV it will NOT vent. If its leaking now it may just need to be adjusted a little. My HKS i used to run leaked sometimes until I tightened the screw on top of the unit.

it don`t leak as far as i know but at idle the bov stays open untill i go into boost and then it closes. if i unplug the vacume line it stayes closed at idle. went out and drove it with the vacume line off and it worked fine but i can`t tell if it`s leaking at all with out the boost signal from the vacume line i unhooked keeping positive closed pressure on the bov.what i`m asking is Will the spring in the bov keep it closed under 10psi of boost. or does it need the vacume/boost signal on the diaphram to help keep it closed. Thanks for the help.

Are you sure it worked with the vacuum line unhooked. If you run it without the BOV hooked up it shouldn't vent. However, your turbo will make a backpeddling noise that sounds like a bov. In any event, it just sounds as if you need to adjust the diaphram. You should have an adjustment screw somewhere that will apply more pressure to it at idle. Most guys dont like the import boards, but honestly www.supraforums.com has some very knowledgable folks when it comes to turbos. You can IM me if your question still wasn't answered.
PS By unhooking the vacuum line you can see that the spring pressure is enough to keep it closed, its just a matter of adjusting it to close at your idle vacuum.

should have an adjustment screw on it that you tighten until it is closed at idle with the line(s) connected.

Yes it`s the HKS. I tryed cranking the screw in, but to close the screw had to be turned all the way in and then it won`t open at all.
